Iraq: Suicide Bomber Kills 121 In Baghdad

by Drima on February 3, 2007

Sigh! :(

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A suicide truck bomber struck a market in a predominantly Shiite area of Baghdad on Saturday, killing at least 121 people and wounding scores among the crowd buying food for evening meals, the most devastating strike in the capital in more than two months.

The attacker was driving a truck carrying food when he detonated his explosives, destroying stores and stalls that had been set up in the busy outdoor Sadriyah market, police said.

The late-afternoon explosion was the latest in a series of attacks against mainly Shiite commercial targets in the capital. No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but it appeared to be part of a bid by Sunni insurgents to provoke retaliatory violence and kill as many people as possible ahead of a planned U.S.-Iraqi security sweep.

Mortars reportedly struck predominantly Sunni areas hours after the attack.

Until when?! I had the impression that things might be improving in Iraq while reading the posts at ITM. Will the situation get much worse before it gets any better? Grrrrr… damn it, I don’t even know what to say about this shit anymore. If there was a button I could push that would wipe away all those filthy animals from existance, I would push it in a second. And after ALL THIS, they’re so damn sure they’d end up in heaven to enjoy their virgins! Sick butchers! No, wait are they really? Oh no no no, this is the doing of evil Zionist CrUSAders using the “divide and control” methodology. At least that’s what some guys I know keep saying. Sigh!

Saddam the “Shaheed” & the “Great Charismatic” Leader

by Drima on January 3, 2007

From Iman’s:

I have not been able to look at Saddam’s capture and trial pictures for more than a few seconds… once a great, charismatic leader has been reduced to such degrading state all in the name of justice and freedom on the hands of a foreign occupying force…the truth is that’s far from it …whether he deserves all that’s happened to him is not the point. Saddam’s overall trial does not have anything remotely connected to justice and freedom…His soul will soon transcend to a place where the real trial, with the fairest judge will take place…till mine follows, this is the image of Saddam that I’d like to carry with me, always:

Thanks Iman. I think I’m gonna puke! Rihab is so right:

I’ve been reading a few posts in a few Arab blogs, and the phrase “great leader” keeps popping up after Saddam… and it is starting to really piss me off.

It is honestly, beyond me how we are capable of devaluing each others blood. If an American or Israeli kills an Arab all hell breaks loose, but if it’s an Arab killing another Arab… oh well, no real biggie, who gives a crap?? we’re all brothers after all! I mean surely, it’s far more disgusting when a stranger kills you as opposed to your brother killing you, right??!!! Wrong! It’s far more disgusting when your brother invades your country, it is far more disgusting when a president sprays his own people with chemicals, as though they were a swarm of flies!! How on earth do people’s minds work?????

From Fluent-Sudani:

May the Lord have mercy on his soul. Allahuma askinhoo faseeh jinanik. It’s a darn shame a man dies protecting his land from occupants. What justice has it done? one-in-one-out justice prevailence. You have Abu Gharib prison assaulters wandering around, no punishment, many other Iraqi teen girls molestors free. Oh, they are not Muslim. “Muslim bad guys are treated humanely not tortured in Gitmo” [sacrasm].

As any Muslim, hanging Saddam in Eid day brings a disrespectful message to the Muslim world, suffering in a religious holiday. Underlying Bush’s announcement of CRUSADE when he first set foot in Iraq. Romans used this filthy method on Christians, now who is repeating the same stab! I am in no position to judge a man who was bravely standing out against invasion, that’s a divine role. Look at what have become of Iraq now, a well-advanced land into rubbles of worthless massacres from angered acadameic-failure troops and daily secterian violence- John Kerry hadn’t lied when he said students get stuck in Iraq when they do bad in school.

Let us classify marytr “Shaheed” in Islam.. according to an authentic hadith, any person who gets killed by occupants of their homes, burnt, drowned. To the last minute, Saddam didn’t fear death and revert into a traitor against his nation.

So when the retarded pigs who were involved in Abu Ghraib roam around freely or get a slap on the wrist, you complain (which is fine) but when Saddam dies protecting his land against occupants, you suddenly sympathize with him and resort to calling him a Shaheed even though the filthy things he committed were so much “lovelier” than what happened in Abu Ghraib. Well surely, it’s all okay right? The moment Saddam stood up to America, he automatically transformed into a brave person and his past horrific crimes became overshadowed and almost hidden by his heroic efforts. No? Oh ya and regarding the the timing of the execution, apparently the US tried to delay it but the Shia dominated Iraqi government refused. I guess you’ll probably dismiss the article as a “lie”. Well maybe it is but I have little difficulty believing it now especially after watching the full video of Saddam’s execution and realizing that Sadr’s supporters were there cheering happily in the spirit of revenge. Ah, you know what… never mind. Saddam was a brave man and he’s now a Shaheed. Ya, that’s why he was hiding in a hole in the ground right?

People want to discuss the trial, fine… People want to discuss America’s invasion of Iraq, fine… People want to discuss the execution, fine… No problem… But pleeeease, I’m sick and tired of hearing all that crap about how Saddam was apparently a “Shaheed” or a “great charismatic” leader.

Saddam’s Execution: A Truly Historical Moment

by Drima on December 30, 2006

I watched the scenes of him getting hanged in disbelief. I literally had my mouth open and I couldn’t close it for 5 minutes. A lorry would have been able to fit inside. Holy crap! He’s actually dead. Oh my God! It just can’t be true can it? Holy shyte, it really is true! Saddam Hussein has been executed! And then a thought crawled into my head, “hey I need to blog about this right NOW”. So here I am blogging.

Now first of all, I have no remorse whatsoever for that __________ (fill in the blank and call him whatever you like). I’m sorry if you’re anti-death penalty but that’s how I honestly feel. Yes, mercy and forgiveness is nice but when someone commits so many horrors like Saddam did, I doubt many will be able to forgive and hence unfortunately… capital punishment as a method of deterrence or revenge as others view it. Saddam Hussein got what he deserved and the fact the Iraqi government didn’t skin him alive, spill acid on his face, slap him a thousand times, chop off his genitals and then hang him, is actually a decent thing.

There has been a lot of interesting talk in news channels and in blogs about Saddam’s trial. “Saddam’s trial was a show, it wasn’t fair, it was politicized, his lawyers didn’t get a chance to defend him properly, the judge is from a town Saddam screwed, bla bla bla”. You know what, I’m not a lawyer, I know very little about law and I don’t deny the fact that the trial was heavily politicized but the trial not being fair?! Come on please. Who cares? Yes, I believe in “innocent until proven guilty” but it really doesn’t take a trial to prove how guilty the man is you know… sorry… was. It’s not like he allegedly sneaked into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, raped her and then killed her. Those are not the type of crimes he committed. What he did is all there and as obvious as the bright sun in the morning sky. Oh ya and what’s up with Libya declaring an official 3 days of mourning? Eh, never mind.

The execution of Saddam Hussein is a unique and historical moment in all the history of mankind. Yes, ALL the history of mankind. Correct me if I’m wrong but Saddam Hussein is the first political figure to have his execution so widely televised all over the world. Millions of people watched his last moments on TV and I’m sure for many it was very surreal.

The reactions of all the people around me are cheerful. “Good riddance” we all agree. You should especially see how happy my Iranian friend is. Oh he’s happy… like really really happy! I mean hey who can blame him right? His dad fought in the Iranian Iraqi war and I’m sure his experiences weren’t pleasant at all.

Today justice has been served. Oh yes it has baby but then that brings us to another question. What’s justice really? This has been asked in various blogs. Is Saddam getting hanged but Bush still walking around free in the White House justice? From what I know, a war criminal is someone who directs his troops and orders them to massacre innocent civilians on purpose (also know as a terrorist). Bush can surely be considered a war criminal if he gave orders to his troops to kill innocent civilians on purpose. Rumsfailed on the other hand is another story. I despise that man and regardless of whether he gave orders to his troops to kill innocents or not, he should still stand trial. He’s one truly horrible planner and should be held accountable to many of the screwed up things happening in Iraq. And ya whatever happened to those US troops who raped the Iraqi girl, killed her and then killer her family? Those pigs should get executed too. Period. OR they should at least get the harshest punishment available under US law. Crap, I’m ranting but there’s one more thing I’ve got on mind. Iraq has a democracy now even though the country is actually a bigger disaster than when Saddam was around (thanks to filthy Sadrists, Baathists, our beloved al-Qaeda and Rumsfailed’s great decisions). So ya, if it’s a democracy then why didn’t the US troops guilty of war crimes against innocent Iraqis stand their trial in Iraq itself rather than in US. I mean hey, Iraq is a democracy right now correct? Plus if this US soldier got tried in Philippines, shouldn’t other US soldiers guilty of ugly crimes committed against Iraqis stand trial in Iraq itself? Damn it I’m still ranting. I need to grab some food.

Well, anyways. Let me say it again one more time. Good riddance!

PS: I wonder what’s going on in the minds of Arab dictators across the region.

UPDATE: D.B. Shobrawy has a letter to Saddam.

Dear Saddam,

What can I say as you make your journey to your rightful place. No doubt you were judged before your body reached the end of the rope and pulled it tight. If the afterlife holds with it any justice (as I’m sure it does) your first of many punishments in hell will be to hear the tearful tales of your victims.

I must admit that when I watched your trial I saw a broken man with sorrowful eyes but as I unearth the file footage and watch you parading through the streets in your military drab clothing, your stupid beret and your chin held high filled with arrogance and consumed with a cold black heart for your millions of victims, I realize your sorrow filled eyes were filled with sorrow for yourself, a selfish sorrow.

You denied God throughout your life and out of desperation and fear you turned to Him when you sensed the angel of death upon you. You were never truly sorry and for that God has rejected your praises. I only wish you were kept alive long enough to face trial for all you’re transgressions, to have justice served in the names of all of those lives you destroyed.

I hate you for what you did to screaming men, women and children, begging for their lives, begging for mercy, begging for your henchmen to end their shame.

Good bye forever!

D.B. Shobrawy

Also here: SADDAM EXECUTED - How should we react?, a well written post. Regardless of whether Saddam’s trial was hurried, fair, politicized etc. I still think he got what he deserved.

It Just Got Better For 130,000 Darfurians

by Drima on December 20, 2006

Isn’t this just lovely?

Dec 19, 2006 (CAIRO) — The United Nations evacuated more than 70 aid workers from the largest refugee camp in Darfur, Sudan on Tuesday after gunmen looted their compounds, leaving some 130,000 refugees virtually without humanitarian help.

It was the largest single instance of an aid worker evacuation since the U.N. launched its large-scale humanitarian campaign in war-torn Darfur in 2004. Over the past year, worsening violence has made delivering vital aid to hundreds of thousands of residents difficult or impossible.

A group of over 20 gunmen raided several humanitarian compounds in the South Darfur refugee camp of Gereida late Monday, harassing staff and stealing vehicles, communication equipment and money, the U.N. Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in a statement.

… “More than 400 (workers) have been evacuated this month, the situation is getting worse and worse,” said OCHA spokeswoman Dawn Blalock on the telephone from Sudan.

A handful of aid workers chose to remain in Gereida, but the “the vast majority” left the camp, Darfur’s largest with some 130,000 refugees, she said.

The attacks were “preventing humanitarian organizations from providing life-saving assistance” to refugees, said UN humanitarian coordinator Manuel Aranda da Silva in the statement

Great! Okay so who were those damn gunmen? Were they Janjaweed, rebels or just a bunch of thieves? Meanwhile Coffee Anan is chilling and drinking Coffee somewhere doing his best to make sure “never again”.

Woman Shot Outside Ardamata Refugee Camp; No Action Taken by AU Troops

by Drima on December 7, 2006

November 19, 2006

A woman and three girls were attacked earlier today while returning to the Ardamata refugee camp. The woman, identified as Khadija Abaker, age 40, was shot in the back and is in critical condition.

According to witnesses who asked not to be named, the attack took place in the area of the destroyed village of Milabider, about 15 kilometers directly east of Al-Genina town, at about 12 noon local time. The group had just finished loading their donkeys with firewood and dried grass intended for animal fodder when they were stopped by a member of the Janjaweed militia who was armed with an AK-47 assault rifle.

The man insulted Ms. Abakar and the girls in Arabic, calling them ‘khedam’ (slave). Ms. Abakar responded in the Massaleit language, at which point he ordered her to speak only in Arabic. It is unclear whether the woman knew how to speak Arabic, but she continued to speak in Massaleit as she and the girls attempted to leave.

The man then shot Ms. Abakar in the back. The girls said that the bullet exited her body below the chest and she fell to the ground.

The remaining girls in the group fled the scene and ran to the African Union barracks in Ardamata camp, where they reported the shooting to the soldiers on duty. Witnesses reported that no African Union troops went to investigate, although they had assured the girls that they would do so.

A resident of the camp, who identified himself only as Mr. Khatir, said that he and three other men went to find the victim. They were able to bring her back to Ardamata in a donkey cart. From there she was transported to Al-Genina hospital, where she remains.

Ms. Abakar is a mother of three. The girls who were accosted with her are aged 16, 19, and 23. The four are related to each other and from the same village, although their exact relationship is unclear.

Darfur War Breeds “Dirty Babies”

by Drima on November 29, 2006

I don’t even know how people who do this can live with themselves. Don’t they even have a conscience?

Fatma gently unwraps the bright, pink folds of her shawl, to reveal her baby girl

By Ishbel Matheson

Nov 24, 2006 — The sickly, three-month-old child, named Hawa, is the result of terrible atrocity.

When Arab militia, known as Janjaweed, came to Fatma’s home in January, they threatened to kill her father.

Fatma intervened but the gunmen turned on her.

“They said to me: ’You are a prostitute’,” she says.

“They pinned me down, one on my hands and one on my legs. The others took turns.”

Fatma was held for four hours and raped repeatedly.

They left her alive, but injured so badly, that she could not walk.

When her family eventually found her, they had to carry her home.

Marked for life

Two months later, Fatma realised that she was pregnant. She is just 15 years old.

“At first my father wanted to throw me out. But others pleaded with him.”

Her family moved to a refugee camp in the town of Kass, along with other survivors from her village.

But in this traditional society, Fatma and her baby are marked for life. The young mum tells how neighbours whisper about her.

“They say I’m a bad girl - that I had this Janjaweed baby. They say that I should be sent away,” she says.

As she speaks, baby Hawa frets and cries. She is malnourished and light as a feather.

Her mother presses her to her breast, but she has no milk.

We ask an older woman who is present, to try to help us soothe the baby.

She refuses, cursing the child as if she were a bad omen.

“She is calling the baby ‘a dirty girl’,” says Unicef’s Eman el-Tigani.

“Fatma has no future here. Islam does not allow for a baby to be killed. Otherwise this baby would be dead.”

Rape ’commonplace’

Fatma and her baby are victims of a brutal scorched-earth campaign in this remote region in western Sudan.

More than two million people have been driven from their lands, in what the UN has called it the “worst humanitarian crisis in the world”. Human rights groups say Arab militia backed by the Sudanese government are seizing the land from Africans in Darfur.

The Sudanese government says it has been fighting a rebellion. It denies funding and arming the militia.

Whatever the politics of the conflict, the crime of rape is disturbingly prevalent.

Every day, aid workers hear reports of women and girls from African tribes being abducted and gang-raped.

Shame amid love

Fatma is not the only one to be bearing the baby of a enemy fighter.

As she tells her story, other heavily pregnant women listen.

Hawa Seliman Mohammed, 24, is due to deliver any day now. She was grabbed by the Janjaweed militia, while taking a shower on the outskirts of her besieged village.

Like many victims, she believes rape is being used as a deliberate weapon in this war.

“They want to destroy everything,” she says. “By violating us, they want to make our men ashamed and to demoralise them.”

There is one report of a Darfuri woman who has tried to abandon her Janjaweed baby.

But Fatma loves her child. She rocks her, murmuring her name.

“I feel ashamed, because she is the child of a Janjaweed - and they are the ones who are carrying out this war against us. But I will keep her. I want my baby.”

And this is what the UN Human Rights Council has to say. We live in such a wonderful world!

US Troops & Iraqi Militia: Who Are the Real Terrorists?

by Drima on November 27, 2006

By now the whole world knows about the worst terrorist attack to ever rock Baghdad. 200 are dead and more than 200 are injured. The attack was a disgusting act of terror carried out by Sunni terrorists against innocent Shia as an act of revenge. Do I also need to point out the following which Big Pharaoh stated already?

Three days ago 5 Sunnis riding explosives laden cars attacked the Shia dominated Sadr City in Baghdad. Over 200 were instantly killed, scores were wounded and maimed.

Yesterday, a group of Shias waited outside a Sunni mosque as the worshipers were coming out. They grabbed 6 Sunnis, poured kerosene on them, and set them on fire. They burned them alive.

Today, a group of Sunnis stormed two Shia homes, grabbed 21 men and gunned them down in front of their families.

Iraqis are doing to each other more than what Saddam did to them.

Love isn’t it?

Coalition troops and especially US troops are struggling to keep order, while the filthy terrorists continue killing innocent people (women and children included) and continue wrecking havoc in hopes that America will finally leave and be defeated. What kind of a sick strategy is that?

I’m fed up with all these retarded people who are so damn happy that the “kuffar terrorist Americans” are suffering. That’s apparently what some guy I bumped into today said and what I bet many are also saying. He’s happy about the news of the attack. He’s happy that US troops are failing in helping Iraqis establish a democracy and getting the mission accomplished. He’s happy that the American military machine can’t stop the terrorists. His hatred for America is much greater than his desire to see Iraqis living in a peaceful democratic country.

Now I seriously can’t get it? How are “filthy kuffar” US troops the terrorists in this case? The pigs responsible for Abu Ghraib? Terrorists. Yes, in my dictionary, they’re terrorists. The low life horrendous sub-human animals who raped the Iraqi girl and killed all her family? Yes, absolute disgusting terrorists. Hiroshima & Nagasaki? Yes, an act of terror. In my dictionary that’s an act of terror. US army now in Iraq? Terrorists? Really? Terrorists?

A few filthy American soldiers don’t mean that the whole American army is a terrorist army. It’s not (ask the Kuwaitis and see what they’ll tell you). I know a few people in the US marines. Hell, one of them is a good friend of mine and used to be my classmate and I can tell you straight up that he’s no damn terrorist for sure. He’s the absolute opposite actually and probably one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

American troops are already in Iraq whether we like it or not and they’re working hard to help the Iraqis bring order. Shouldn’t we support that? Yes, stupid Rumsfailed has failed. Yes, new strategies are needed. Yes, there have been disgusting acts committed by some US soldiers. But still shouldn’t we oppose the terrorists there? I mean for God’s sake, how on earth are they “freedom fighters”? They don’t even follow Islamic law when it comes to Jihad. Do they? No, they DON’T. At least the US army isn’t interested in killing innocent people on purpose. Because if they were they wouldn’t be wasting their time and money developing high tech precision guided missiles costing millions of dollars to surgically strike enemy targets and avoid civilian casualties as much as possible. Why would they want to go through that entire headache if they really did love killing innocent people? Why? Tell me please because maybe somewhere in my brain there’s some lose nut that needs some tightening. Tell me. Why would they bother with all that?

Forgive me for my angry rant but I don’t want to discuss the reasons Americans went into Iraq. I’m not interested in arguing about the reasons for America’s invasion and whether it was justified or not because that’s not the real question here. The real question here is about ethics of battle so please anti-American, pro-Iraqi militia people tell me… tell me if you’re out there who the real terrorists are. Who are they? Are the real terrorists the US troops or the Iraqi militia? I’m just dying to know. And for the record, if you’re anti-American, fine. You know what? No, seriously, it’s fine. It’s all good with me. Those are your political views and I respect them, but if your anti-Americanism is so intense to the point that it blinds you from the obvious, then there’s something seriously wrong with you. No? Fine, then. Tell me, who are the real terrorists? Are they the US troops or the Iraqi militia? And while you’re at it, you can probably check this post by Neurotic Iraqi Wife for another perspective and this one too called “Righteous Indignation” by Mesopotamian. Oh ya and one more thing… may butcher Bin Laden, blood thirsty Sadr and all their filthy followers burn in hell. Amen!

Israel Killed Peirre Gemayel

by Drima on November 22, 2006

Yup, that’s about what 90% of the commenters on this al-Jazeera article are saying. I think if I stole all the money from one of those commenters’ bank accounts and told him Israel did it, he’ll probably believe me. Hilarious!

Thank you Syria (which indirectly also means thank you Iran). I guess the mischief they’re helping create in Iraq is not enough for both of them.

Israel Developing Anti-Militant “Bionic Hornet”

by Drima on November 18, 2006

Interesting…

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel is using nanotechnology to try to create a robot no bigger than a hornet that would be able to chase, photograph and kill its targets, an Israeli newspaper reported on Friday.

The flying robot, nicknamed the “bionic hornet,” would be able to navigate its way down narrow alleyways to target otherwise unreachable enemies such as rocket launchers, the daily Yedioth Ahronoth said.

…”The war in Lebanon proved that we need smaller weaponry. It’s illogical to send a plane worth $100 million against a suicidal terrorist. So we are building futuristic weapons,” Peres said.

…Prototypes for the new weapons are expected within three years, he said.

Coooooool. Science fiction movies are coming to life. Me support! Anything that takes innocent civilians out of the equation should be supported. Go Israel! Okay, I think I better run and hide somewhere now. Ouch! Eggs are already being thrown at me. OUCH! Crap, okay okay fine I’m sorry. Death to the filthy Jews.

“Allahu Akbar” & the Mental Images that Follow

by Drima on November 11, 2006

Big Pharaoh has an excellent post.

Allahu Akbar, may poverty be erased. Allahu Akbar, may the suffering in Darfur end. Allahu Akbar, may illiteracy be defeated. Allahu Akbar, the vast universe is an indication of Your truly intelligent design… I wish that’s what the words “Allahu Akbar” were associated with nowadays but that’s not the case. Sadly they’re increasingly becoming associated with something else… something they shouldn’t be ever associated with. Let’s blame the Jews for that shall we? Sigh! Oh well… Thank you Al-Qaeda :(
