Here in front of me was a third generation Israeli surrounded by enemies on all fronts and being programed since birth by local media, education and daily events/attacks to hate Arabs/Muslims. Yet we all left that island with a new found respect for each other because we were able to see the human being inside and learned to separate state policies from people. While the State of Israel is a terrorist State this does not mean that all citizens of Israel are terrorist, even though they should be held accountable since it is the only democratic state in region

This entry thread amply illustrates the stupid hijacking manoeuvers of some commentaries. I am not even sure they are aware of this. Some people seem to feel entitled to provide us with some ranting about Israel no matter what the subject matter of the blog is, as if it was their utmost right to provide such half baked ranting. And they go on as if the contributors are going to be enlightened by their boyish kindergarden schoolish ranting.
The entry was about the Olympics. It is a great subject for those we feel that the games are great opportunity for people to compete and live in peace and the usual BLA BLA brotherly love. There is also the other side of the games that needs to be explored like the rampant nationalism, speudo-fascist like tendencies of nations to show off what type of atheletes they can produce and how great they are in the eyes of the world. I understand that athletes need to be proud of their athletic achiements, but to be too proud of their nations is not my cup of tea.
We all know how the games can be used for extreme nationalism (i.e, former East Germany, USRR) by creating a state sponsored institution of dopping and genetic improvement thus using and in the end disposing of a whole generation of young citizens to early death, cancers, and physical deformity for the sole purpose to showing how great the society they live in. Poor African authoritarian governments also use their athletes (if they win) to booster internal legitimacy and sense of nationhood (while many people die of malnutrition) by giving ample financial rewards and political clouts to winners. They are very good at parading their athletes in a joyous weeks and months on TV and parades when they come back from the games just to make people feel good about being citizens and make them forget their miserable lives.
Of course I am not generalizing this to all African countries. I can give examples of this ideological play using the government of Morocco’s prides with its short distance (800m, 1500m) runners. They are the semi-gods of the nation, from then on they receive “carte blanche” from their patriach the king. Who wouldn’t want to emulate these athletes just to receive the benediction of the father.
My point is that this is what we should discuss, the positive and negative, the psychological and socio/political aspects of the Olympics. Instead the first entry was about the Terrorist nation of Israel, although the blog entry meant to suggest (for fun or not it does not matter) that the Olympics are none existent for many people and they are non-existent for the majority of the planet’s inhabitants(most people do not care about them because they are not going to put food in the table, it is that simple).
But as I said earlier, some poeple feel that they have to say some absurd things just because they think they know a lot, when in reality they are ignorant and only self-righteous boyish ranters on Israel. The opening ceremony was magnificent, a true show of how far the Chinese have advanced, not only is China rich in history it also has a very promising future. They’ve raised the bar, London has to outdo itself in order to match this historical performance

Even if the Olympics were in the United States I would have still yawned. I’m not such a fanatic fan of sports. The only thing I watch is football once in a while when the tournament is huge e.g. Euro Cup and the World Cup. The NBA is alright too.

To make a long story short he had all this propaganda programmed into his head that veiled him from seeing the humane side of the conflict and suffering the Palestinians have endured on the hands of Israel. While on the other hand our conversations opened up my eyes personally to the propaganda against “Israelis” by placing all of them in the same ‘evil’ basket. Here in front of me was a third generation Israeli surrounded by enemies on all fronts and being programed since birth by local media, education and daily events/attacks to hate Arabs/Muslims. Yet we all left that island with a new found respect for each other because we were able to see the human being inside and learned to separate state policies from people. While the State of Israel is a terrorist State this does not mean that all citizens of Israel are terrorist, even though they should be held accountable since it is the only democratic state in region 
So please Dirma, before you go on and play the same old broken record that most Zionist use to portray those who disagree with them as Anti-Semitic or just hate ‘Joooooz’, learn to at least listen to what they have to say and not put words in their mouth…
I will always support the Palestinian Cause and their right to live a life of dignity on their lands free from occupation and “Tahweed” (I don’t the exact translation of Tahweed in English, but it is changing the original names of streets, towns, cities, rivers, mountains, …etc in an effort to erased their identity and replace it with an Israeli one.)

Some people seem to feel entitled to provide us with some ranting about Israel no matter what the subject matter of the blog is, as if it was their utmost right to provide such half baked ranting. And they go on as if the contributors are going to be enlightened by their boyish kindergarden schoolish ranting.
The entry was about the Olympics. It is a great subject for those we feel that the games are great opportunity for people to compete and live in peace and the usual BLA BLA brotherly love. There is also the other side of the games that needs to be explored like the rampant nationalism, speudo-fascist like tendencies of nations to show off what type of atheletes they can produce and how great they are in the eyes of the world. I understand that athletes need to be proud of their athletic achiements, but to be too proud of their nations is not my cup of tea.
We all know how the games can be used for extreme nationalism (i.e, former East Germany, USRR) by creating a state sponsored institution of dopping and genetic improvement thus using and in the end disposing of a whole generation of young citizens to early death, cancers, and physical deformity for the sole purpose to showing how great the society they live in. Poor African authoritarian governments also use their athletes (if they win) to booster internal legitimacy and sense of nationhood (while many people die of malnutrition) by giving ample financial rewards and political clouts to winners. They are very good at parading their athletes in a joyous weeks and months on TV and parades when they come back from the games just to make people feel good about being citizens and make them forget their miserable lives.
Of course I am not generalizing this to all African countries. I can give examples of this ideological play using the government of Morocco’s prides with its short distance (800m, 1500m) runners. They are the semi-gods of the nation, from then on they receive “carte blanche” from their patriach the king. Who wouldn’t want to emulate these athletes just to receive the benediction of the father.
My point is that this is what we should discuss, the positive and negative, the psychological and socio/political aspects of the Olympics. Instead the first entry was about the Terrorist nation of Israel, although the blog entry meant to suggest (for fun or not it does not matter) that the Olympics are none existent for many people and they are non-existent for the majority of the planet’s inhabitants(most people do not care about them because they are not going to put food in the table, it is that simple).
But as I said earlier, some poeple feel that they have to say some absurd things just because they think they know a lot, when in reality they are ignorant and only self-righteous boyish ranters on Israel. I would say to these small cretins to open blogs themselves where they can unleash to their heart content all the diatribes about Israel instead of hijacking topics for the sole purpose of making stupid comments for the sake of making them.

Even though this is supposed to be the ‘Sudanese Thinker’ blog there are many more Israelis than Sudanese on this blog and with the majority of them being die hard Zionist… So it is only natural that Israel is being discussed…
