Fundamentalism and Curious Minds…

… according to the one and only Seth Godin, in my humble opinion, the world’s finest marketing expert and someone whose ideas have influenced my thinking considerably.

Fundamentalist is a person who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith before they explore it. As opposed to a curious person who explores first and then considers whether or not they want to accept the ramifications.

Flush the former down the toilet and embrace the latter.

Thanks for that link. I didn’t know of that guy. He seems to be sharp.

Seth Godin *is* super sharp. He mainly talks about marketing, branding and advertising with a focus on the three in the new revolutionized context brought about by the internet’s creation.

I’ve read many of his books and a lot of what he says applies in politics and sociology. In fact he does go into those two topics sometimes and talks about how politicians employ marketing and how (and why) certain ideas eventually become viral and ultimately win. Very relevant stuff especially in the grand scheme of the market place of ideas.
