Arab Muslim Troops Assisting Against Taliban In Afghanistan

by Drima on March 30, 2008

It looks like the Emiratis have been helping the coalition in Afghanistan for the past 5 years now. Good stuff.

I’m glad the story is getting coverage over at Red State. Not surprisingly, some Muslims are fuming over what they view as treasonous.

Sure, let’s bring back the wonderful Taliban please. They’re so much better than the evil coalition.

Open Letter to ‘Fitna’ Maker

by Drima on March 29, 2008

Hey Geert Wilders,

I’m disappointed. Hype… so much of it, and all we got was some boring so-called film that did the usual de-contextualized cherry-picking from the Koran and showed video portions of the very Muslim lunatics who do the same shit for the sake of preaching their politically-motivated heinous garbage.

Is that all you’ve got? The least you could have done is include something of intellectual value but I’m not sure you’re capable of that.

I understand your legitimate concerns regarding the future of Europe and your country if the radicals you showed in your cute piece of work became a dangerously large number. What I don’t understand and will not accept is you insulting me by putting me together, and in fact the majority of Muslims, under the same category as those filthy butchers and idiots you displayed in your compilation.

Great job. It’s so nice of you not to draw any distinction whatsoever between me and what’s supposed to be a common enemy we both share. You totally get it. Islam is a big fat monolith.

Alright fine, you’re right. I admit it, I’m lying. Truth is, all of us Muslims are desperate for some infidel blood. We just love drinking it. It’s so thirst-quenching, we wanna suck you dry, which is why this kick-ass intellectually enriching thing of yours still insulting.

1.2 billion Muslims and all we’re capable of is September 11th, London’s 7/7, Madrid’s trains and a number of other terrorist attacks? That’s it? For a group so enormous, we’re surely doing a pretty crappy job tearing your veins apart.

Thanks for implying that we Muslims are both retarded and terrorists. Oh and thanks for wasting 15 precious minutes of my day. Ali’s friend is right.

“I could have masturbated in that time.”

Sincerely,

Drima

Volunteers for Darfur-Awareness

by Drima on March 26, 2008

Dear readers familiar with Darfur,

anybody interested in posting once in a while over at Darfur-Awareness? A reader emailed me in today expressing disappoint over the lack of updates there. She’s right and I take full responsibility for that. I’ve gotten awfully busy lately and the frequency of posts is far from enough. I can hardly keep up with my online responsibilities for now thanks to being a final semester student and the book I’m writing.

Any volunteers? Please drop me an email and let me know if you’re willing to kindly help.

Jewish-Arab Relations Survey

by Drima on March 24, 2008

Interesting statistics:

Fifty percent of Jews polled do not want Arabs living in their neighborhoods, even though 69% would welcome a friendship with an Arab. Conversely, 56% of the Arab public supports living in Jewish neighborhoods and 85% would welcome having Jewish friends.

I admit that my focus initially was on how more Jews didn’t like the idea of having an Arab friend than vice versa. However, to ignore the overall positive obvious would be counterproductive.

The majority have no problem being friends.

Awww. :)

A lot has indeed greatly improved since the signing of the peace agreement but more clearly needs to be done.

Loving the Creations of Those You Hate

by Drima on March 24, 2008

I was out with a Sudanese friend yesterday when the subject of racism towards people with African ethnicities popped up. Well, actually that wasn’t the core subject. We were talking about the contradictory attitude of retarded people who are racist towards blacks but yet still love, and I mean love hip-hop and reggae. I’ve personally come across a few such idiots. They never fail to amaze me.

I still don’t really get it. If you hate or look down on a certain group of people, how can you happily consume their creations?

This reminds me of a scene in the movie Hart’s War, set in Nazi Germany, when the character played by Bruce Willis, an American prisoner of war, entered the office of his Nazi captor only to be surprised by the Jazz music playing in it. Besides the fact that it was the creation of an inferior racial group according to Nazi ideology, Jazz wasn’t looked upon favorably back then under Hitler for other reasons.

For the architects of the Third Reich, jazz was an especially threatening form of expression. Not only were its creators - and many of the most talented European jazz artists - at the very bottom of the Nazi racial hierarchy, but the very essence of jazz - spontaneity, improvisation and, above all, individuality - represented a direct challenge to the repetitive, uniform pulse of Germany march music and indeed everyday life.

The Nazi captor believed in Hitler’s ideology and yet, secretly enjoyed Jazz music.

I can’t help but notice the same basic mindset in the region I come from. “… Jews are such demons man. Oh hey, by the way, wanna head to Starbucks?”

Fundamentalism and Curious Minds…

by Drima on March 21, 2008

… according to the one and only Seth Godin, in my humble opinion, the world’s finest marketing expert and someone whose ideas have influenced my thinking considerably.

Fundamentalist is a person who considers whether a fact is acceptable to their faith before they explore it. As opposed to a curious person who explores first and then considers whether or not they want to accept the ramifications.

Flush the former down the toilet and embrace the latter.

Obama’s Speech and Pastor

by Drima on March 21, 2008

The former was really good. The latter is just plain nasty.

I thought Obama made a great speech in which he explicitly rejected and opposed the inflammatory and victimhood-infested statements made by his former Pastor. However he should have distanced himself away from Rev. Wright further than he already did.

At first, I thought the whole event was pretty screwed up for Obama politically but now I’m not so sure anymore because if it wasn’t for this controversy, Obama wouldn’t have made his speech, one which undeniably captured massive attention and scored him a lot of positive points with the American left and center. The media might have cooled down about the whole thing but I can imagine the kind of discussions brewing underneath the surface behind the closed doors of American homes.

Meanwhile the endorsement Obama received from Governor Richardson, someone who was part of the Clinton administration, must surely be good news to him.

Sorry, busy with academics and my IEEE conference paper on blogging as a means of organizational knowledge sharing. The former is a pain I can’t wait to get done with in two months, the latter something I’m enjoying. :)

Give me like a day or two and I’ll be right back.

Meanwhile, the trend of lovely leaders in our region using the evil Joooz as a Weapon of Mass Distraction continues relentlessly.

Beware of the Zionist CrUSAde. It’s everywhere. Seriously, beware!

Tehran Police Chief Caught With 6 Prostitutes

by Drima on March 14, 2008

What an effing hypocrite:

Tehran’s police chief, Reza Zarei, has been arrested after he was found nude in a local brothel with six naked prostitutes, the Farda news website reported Wednesday.

Over the past year Zarei was in charge of enforcing the Islamic dress code on Iranian women with the purpose of “moralizing of the city.”

It is alleged that in the past six months, hundreds of young people have been arrested in Iran for not respecting the Islamic code of behavior.

The immensity of this disgusts me but hardly surprises me. Are they gonna stone him to death? Lash his filthy butt? Oh yeah, like that’s ever gonna happen. You see, “Islamic” law is just a way to gain power, oppress people and hide behind a veil of piety.

Gosh, I need a glass of ice cold water. Muslim Heretics Conference anyone?

Mona Eltahawy: Our Own Worst Enemy

by Drima on March 13, 2008

Dear Mona, thank you for saying it so eloquently and telling it like it is. I salute you!

… With a prayer for all those souls murdered in the name of my religion, I confess I am not so concerned about Europe. And I don’t care about cartoons in Denmark. Newspapers there have every right to publish whatever they like. I couldn’t care less about Geert Wilders, the Dutch politician whose film Fitna will surely provoke more fear-mongering racism. It’s just red meat dished out to right wing Europeans.

In Sudan we have a saying: “Anba7 ya kalib, wistaree7 ya galib“, which roughly means “bark oh dog, and rest oh heart”. In other words we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be so easily provoked into rage or violence by such “barking” but instead we must learn to focus on the things that matter way more.

But I also have little interest in the views of the left wing reader who may be waiting for my inner Victimized Muslim to blame all our ills on the right wing, or the United States, or Israel. No, I have a much closer, more intimate concern.

I am not so concerned about these others, because the main target of Muslim violence is fellow Muslims in the Muslim world.

Nearly every week, hundreds of Muslims are blown to shreds in Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The frequent demonstrations held across the Muslim world don’t call for an end to the slaughter of Muslims by Muslims, but to demand petulantly that the ‘world’ stop offending Muslims.

So very true. All of it. The emphasis is obviously mine because the highlighted desperately needs to be emphasized, especially the part about Muslim Victimhood and its unfortunate convergence with people like Cindy Sheehan.

And yet, topping the agenda of the summit in Senegal this week of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is Islamophobia.

… I don’t expect any enlightened self-criticism from the OIC. It was at a meeting in 2005, after the Danish cartoons were published, that the manufactured outrage against Denmark was cooked up and delivered across the Muslim world — a perfect distraction from domestic pressures for every opportunistic Muslim dictator — and for Islamist groups looking to claim the banner of Islam.

How nice of the OIC. This is an absolute and utter shame. It’s unbelievably pathetic and powerfully symbolizes the extreme problems we Muslims suffer from.

… Islam has been around for more than 1,400 years and it will not vanish because of cartoons and films. But what does shake my faith is the violence.

… I will not leave Islam to the barbarians.

And neither will I.
