The Gazan Human Chain

BEIT HANUN, Gaza Strip (AFP) - Palestinians were forming a human chain the length of the Gaza Strip on Monday in protest at a crushing Israeli blockade, with Israeli forces on alert for any rush on the border.
Under a light rain, thousands of schoolchildren were joined by adults along Salaheddin Road, the main highway traversing the centre of the impoverished coastal strip, an AFP correspondent witnessed.
… “This is a peaceful and civilised act to let the people express their rejection of the siege and of collective punishment,” Khudari told journalists. “We are raising a cry to the world for it to act.”
Cool, it’s all good, except for one thing. Keep the kids at home… you know, just in case shit happens.

If they don’t attempt to invade, Israel will do nothing.
If they do attempt to invade, Israel can either shoot at the human shields, and be condemned by the world for it, and allow herself to be invaded and die.
Using human shields is a war crime, shooting at a human shield is not, but the world condemns Jews, not crimes.
It seems like the terrorists found the ideal weapon.
Against Jews.
Using human shields only works against Jews.
It’s apparently over now and nobody came.
Hamas expected 50,000 people, less than 5,000 really came.
I thought they would try to cross the border like they did at the Egyptian border. But they really didn’t have the manpower (childpower).
During the “peaceful protest”, Hamas also shot rockets at Israel, wounding one. I guess that is just part of their definition of “peaceful”.
It’s not going well for Hamas.
Their Egyptian project just showed Egyptians how much better off Gazans are materially, and their protest project just showed Israel how few people really support them.
I wonder if they won the elections by intimidating voters or whether their voters were real and are now disillusioned.
I still think it’s funny that the Palestinian Arabs would happily vote for war and then be upset if it results in a blockade.
A peaceful protest (though quite overblown in terms of scope, as many rallies in a similar vein, worlwide, become) is much better than the alternative, which appears to be breaking down the border, assaulting Egyptian police, and going shopping.
So yes, a peaceful protest is nice, and I sincerely hope that the trend continues, though the fact that a large portion of it was kids is not nice at all - and the fact that Hamas organized the protest just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, making me wonder just how many of those kids got there because their Hamas schoolteacher told them that it was what they had to do.
Why isn’t there anything resembling a popular independent and impartial Palestinian group, eh?
Authoritarian epistemological domination.
That’s why.
Meanwhile, I’m very happy that nothing bad happened. It could have, that’s why such a huge number of children should not have been present at all.
the palis are clowns … if they want to play into pacifists they should better start by stopping shooting rockets … they just can’t get it both ways: to shell sderot and other places every day on one hand and to stage so called peaceful protests on the other … if they want to be mahatma gandhis they should notice that mahatma gandhi was a pacifist to the end … he was not leading the movement that in its official manifesto claimed that the day of judgement will come only when the muslims slaughter all jews …
“if they want to play into pacifists they should better start by stopping shooting rockets”
What for? Their audience sees them as the peaceful victims, no matter how many rockets they shoot at kindergardens and no matter how racist their television.
“they just can’t get it both ways: to shell sderot and other places every day on one hand and to stage so called peaceful protests on the other”
Their audience sees the “peaceful protests” and doesn’t care about a few dead Jews.
“if they want to be mahatma gandhis they should notice that mahatma gandhi was a pacifist to the end”
Problem is, Gandhis method doesn’t work for what they are trying to achieve.
How do you kill all the Jews using non-violence?
Just imagine if the Arabs had, in 1948, decided to resist the evil Zionists peace-fully…
Obviously the Zionists would have mowed them down. We all know that Jews are evil. Hence we can, without any anti-Semitism, safely assume that the Arabs had to attack to avoid a Jewish attack.
“This is a peaceful and civilised act to let the people express their rejection of the siege and of collective punishment,”
Why didn’t they vote against the war and Hamas when they had the chance?
“the palis are clowns”
No need to get nasty Nobody.
Clearly the object of the exercise was to get some children shot, thus generating big headlines. Fortunately it failed, but they will try again.

mind you, i think the number of kassams they have lobbed into negev since we got out of gaza should be approaching 10,000 now … it’s in few thousands at the minimum … what’s the point of peaceful protests when they are shelling us at this rate ???
incidentally i am from the unilateral disengagement crowd .. and i am still saying that it’s good we are out of gaza even though we got only kassams in return … but i have no illusion - the moment they shoot something more serious into sderot, and the palis are known to have tried to improvise chemical warheads for kassams using chlorine and other shit, i will have to come up with some kind of a better explanation as to why it’s so good to be out of gaza …
frankly i think that all these blockades and high precision air strikes are a waste of time … it may be a matter of a few months before we are back into gaza … i see no other option left .. we can of course evacuate sderot but it won’t help … they will just switch to shelling ashkelon and elsewhere ..
