This is sad. Last year, around this same time, it was Saddam Hussein. Most rejoiced. Now, we have this shit.
May she rest in peace.

This didn’t come as a surprise, with the many other attempts on her life ever since she returned to Pakistan, but it’s sad nontheless.
Incidentally, the following article was published on Ynet recently: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3487651,00.html
Interesting…
That article is the last thing that should get publicity at the moment.
“Bhutto admired Israel and wanted to normalize relations with it” is surely going to make her lovable in the eyes of most Muslims.
Did people “rejoice” at the execution of Saddam? It was badly handled so that it appeared to be a matter of revenge rather than justice.
To me, it was an unpleasant necessity, not a matter for rejoicing.
What I meant was that you’ll find few who are happy over Bhutto’s demise.
She wasn’t a monster. Corrupt? Yes. Neglected human rights? Yes. But certainly no monster like Saddam was.
Palestinians mourned his passing, Drima, which nearly threw a wrench into the Hamas-Iran relationship. And a lot of people saw him as some kind of Arab Hero, stupid though that may be.
In fact, at the moment I’d wager more people mourned Saddam than they did Bhutto, because few gave a damn about Bhutto in the first place.

Mainly Arabs. That’s about it.

I highly doubt it. Saddam left behind him a very bloody legacy. Bhutto didn’t. Just compare the mainstream media coverage of her death with that of Saddam’s last year.
Are we really to consider the deaths of Bhutto and Sadaam as comparable? Maybe if the Bhutto you are referring to is her Father.
Oh, a lot of people hated Saddam, too (mainly those who had any personal experience with his actions) but a lot of people admired him. Most often, it’s the people who actively build a personality cult around them that become memorable (as any review of current Russian official history books will show, or official Chinese history books).
Bhutto was respected by many for being better than her opponents in Pakistan ten times over, but would people in faraway lands mourn her? Really mourn her? Did anyone outside of her support group in Pakistan truly support her to such an extent? I doubt it, I really do. Whereas Saddam Hussein is a Great Arab Martyr… And there are a lot more Arabs than Pakistanis, man.
