Haboob | Hajaj | Katta7a

Those are three different names it goes by. I’ve experienced it many times and I seriously miss it. Here’s a video from Ikbis (the Arab Youtube) of a few Egyptians in Sudan enjoying an encounter with a gigantic dust storm.

I’ve never experienced a serious kata7a in Sudan. It looks scary

Dude… you MISS this? :)

In Israel the closest we get is Sharav - when wind from the desert blows a lot of dust in from the desert. And it’s bloody annoying - the sky is orange and everything is covered in fine-ground. Including the inside of your mouth.

Now this Haboob thing looks similar, only 10 times worse. How can you LIKE it? :)
