As always, I ask the perennial question: why is it that the rest of the world feels a need to take an interest in American presidential elections?

The answer, ironically, seems to be: because somehow being an American is something they can relate to.

The irony of course is that some elephants may claim that their belligerence ensures that the western world remains free of tyranny so that donkey-esque Hollywood can continue making movies like BM.

On another note Drima, what do you think about the “is Obama black enough” debate?

“The answer, ironically, seems to be: because somehow being an American is something they can relate to.”

Actually, no Finnpundit. Sorry to burst your bubble. :)

It’s because I’m interested in each candidates’ plans for Iraq and US foreign policy as a whole. Those are things that can affect me greatly. Health care, taxes etc.? Na, me not bothered.

Nizo, Obama isn’t black enough since his dad doesn’t come from an ancestry of Africans that endured the extreme hardships “real” black Americans went through hundreds of years ago. That seems to be the whole premise of the debate.

Tiger Woods is bi-racial just like Obama but his dad’s ancestry went through the real deal, unlike Obama’s dad. So in that sense, we could say Obama is not black enough but Tiger Woods is. Seriously though, it’s just a dumb topic to be even talking about. Who cares how his dad arrived to America?

Obama is bi-racial, half black, half white.

    Full stop.

Yes, it’s going to be an interesting election. I think most Americans still prefer Republicans on security issues, despite the debacle in Iraq. I’m not really sure how much that’s going to be in play in ‘08 though. And I’m not sure how honest people are when they get polled and answer questions about what they are really concerned about. Seems to me a lot of times people don’t really decide what REALLY matters to them until they are in the voting booth.

Very nice pics selection, Drima :)

Although the gun in the upper picture is from the Kalachnikov line, I think.

Thanks Raccoon, me thinks they’re both very appropriate (in a stereotypical way of course) and no the gun is an American M16. Bin Laden gave me one for my birthday last year.

Bleh, I have zero knowledge about guns. Me would love to shoot some in an appropriate range one day. :)

    Ironic indeed Nizo.

Who In The O8 Elections Will Make America a Better Place For You & Your Children?…

Interestingly, the question is asked by Drima at The Sudanese Thinker who lives outside the U.S. So, what’s your choice for achieving peace? Mine is the first one Drima offers: Peace through superior firepower. I’ll be leaving the choice of “Brokeba…

I’m not sure the average range has assault weaponry, Drima. Rifles, pistols, possibly single-shot versions of assault rifles, yes, but not the real deal.

The gun in the picture does look like an AK, by the way. The wooden grip and forward sight seem to imply that.
