Black Kush posted some really wonderful pictures of wildlife returning to South Sudan after 2 decades of bloody civil war. Path2Hope also has some pretty pictures of Tanzania. Makes me wana go there!

    A relative of mine is in the FBI. He is frequently sent abroad on matters relating to terrorism and has been all over the world. A few years ago, he showed me some beautiful pictures of the landscape in Kenya and Tanzania shortly after the embassy bombings in those countries. It is all amazingly beautiful country.

    In contrast to the beautiful landscape of eastern Africa, I recall another picture he once showed me:

    At the start of the Iraq war, he was one of the first civilians in the country. He sent me this photo from neighboring Kuwait. It showed a single palm tree across a vast, empty desert plane. The caption read “Kuwaiti National Forest.”
