Ali Eteraz On Salman Rushdie’s Knighthood
Posted on June 18, 2007
Filed Under Retards, Islam, UK |
Here we have a man, who is no longer a Muslim, and which most of the Muslim world claims to hate (certainly the fundamentalists do), get knighted by a nation, UK, which formerly colonized most of the Muslim world. Upon his knighthood, the hardline clerics in both Pakistan and Iran become extremely upset.
There is something wrong with that picture. If the hardliners hate Rushdie, they shouldn’t really give a flying f*ck whether he gets knighted, abducted by aliens, or anally probed. Yet the fundos care very much about all those when it comes to Rushdie. Why? Get a life, you freaking losers. He doesn’t like you. Not only that, but he actually left the faith you both once shared. He dislikes you that much. Stop acting like a stalking ex-boyfriend and leave him alone. The best revenge — if that is what you want — is to ignore him, not keep having ejaculations every time you hear about him. That just gives him more power over you.
LOL! But hey seriously, I won’t be surprised if this turns into another “cartoon fest” and gets blown out of proportion. Let’s hope it doesn’t.
UPDATE: More reactions I agree with…
Once you get an itch, sometimes it really doesn’t stop, does it? You scratch and scratch, and eventually you realise that your scratching has made the problem much worse than it was at the beginning.
I really despair of my fellow Muslims. It’s like a Pavlovian reaction. Mention the name “Salman Rushdie”, and rhetorical filth and insanity starts pouring out. When will we learn that the whole story of Salman Rushdie has been an unmitigated PR disaster for the Muslims and the image of Islam?
I’ve written elsewhere about the pitfall trap phenomenon: Muslims know that there’s a nasty hole in front of them, filled with sharp sticks like press freedom and human rights, but can they stop themselves from jumping in?
No, it’s just too tempting for some retards. More here also:
So, once again, the response has to be direct and straight forward: no compromise on freedom of conscience; no compromise on freedom of expression; no compromise on freedom of speech. Forget if people’s religious sensibilities are hurt. They will have to get over it and live with it like all the rest of us whose sensibilities are assailed by burning tires, burning cars, strikes, and demagoguery.

I take it all those “Muslims” who are angry at Rushdie for the Satanic Verses never read the book. (Neither have I, but I think I will soon.)
What happened is that someone told these people that the book is anti-Islam, hence it is, because any man’s word is law for these people.
My father immediately bought “The Satanic Verses” when the Iranians first issued the fatwa against Rushdie. The book became a number one best seller instantly, even though it is rather mediocre.
The fatwa made Sir Salman famous, rich, and now, - a knight.
hi
friends who care’s for that bustard, media gives him hype. world media is puppet of anti-muslims
DEAR FRIENDS,
SALMAN RUSHIE IS NOT A GENIUS AND HE IS ONLY A LESS THAN A MEDIOCRE NOVALIST. SINCE HIS JOB IS TO POUR CONTEMPT OVER THE GREAT PERSONALITIES AND GET ALL THE MEDIA ATTENTION AND MAKE THE WHOLE BENEFIT OF IT.
LET US UNDERSTAND THE FACT AND IGNORE WHATEVER HE RECEIVES. SINCE HE IS NOT A MUSLIM AND DOESN’NT HAVE IN TOUCH WITH ISLAM HE WILL ALSO POUR ALL THE CONTEMPTS LIKE OTHERS.
LET US HELP HIM AND OTHERS TO UNDERSTAND ISLAM AND THE HOLY PROPHET, THEN HE WILL TAKE AN EQUAL REVERSE OF WHAT HE SAYS.
Mohamed Shereef
Honestly speaking, even I haven’t read his book. I didn’t have time enough to read such book nor will attempt to read if it is, what it is. But will agree with the gentleman who advised to ignore for yes, ignorance at times does act as bitter than hatred. I think, instead of becoming violent, people of all faith should try to calmly ignore and exhibit patience.
Heh. Sir Rushdie’s writings are immaterial. If someone needs to flame the fabled “Muslim street” up, any excuse will do… he is the current one.

And that mysterious someone is, of course, whichever bastard currently lording it over a Muslim population.
Dont u people see western media is always looking to create kayoss and challenge Muslims not only emotions but their faith ( their love to Holly Prophet). Muslims wht happend to ur love to islam and holly Prophet how can u just say ignore all this.By defination a muslim is one who love Allah and the Holly Prophet more then any thing or any one.I think we all should get a message out of this and once and for all we all the muslim nations unite and bycote UK economically and polotically , just to let western media know not to point finger or not to help those who point fingure at our Holly Prophet…………..Look people western countries always get or i must say always get whoever (Innocent or guilty)they want from muslim world and we feel priviliged and hand over to them and feel honor by doing so.>>>>Oh Muslims Pleaseeeeeeeeeeese get toghter and just ask uk to handover Rushdee. Our Allah Our Prophet our Religion our holly book has not changed then y r we living in kayoas and i feel ashamed by reading that be ignorent and forget all this.I m not being extrimist i m being reasonable and would like the people to know the difference between a Muslim and so called a muslim.I Pray for all of us.
Mohamed,
Did you read Rushdie’s works? And why do you type in all upper-case?
I never read his works. For all I know he could be a genius. The pagan mullahs sure seem frightened of him. And their followers, who believe anything they are told, seem to be very angry.
Hand him over? And what will be done to Rushdie should the UK hand him over? It’s just a book! A work of fiction! Are some Muslims so protective and insecure in their faith that a mere novel scares them?
Regardless, from what I know Rushdie was considered a good author before he wrote The Satanic Verses, and a good author for his other books. His books, all of them and not merely The Satanic Verses, earned him his knighthood, just like Doyle’s books earned him his.
Well, well, well i guess islam hardliners, protectors i may say get extermely upset huh! why? fear of unmasking your ulterior motives in dominating the whole world, every country has a bad perception about US dominance but rather are we thinking of the whole US policy in general? you are afraid of rushdie fiction book? perhaps you are afraid that especially now Queen Elizabeth 2 has made this book earn a knighthood honour and become a very popular book intellects all over the world may have various opinions and dig deeper for facts for muslims outrage? Okey lets talk about criticizing christianity like Da Vinci Code movie well the most recent controversy i saw, but has this lead to threats in bombings and somehow killings for the people who is responsible in revealing this fictions, but just the same people all over the world reacted especially the religious groups and make this an open debate between christianity and other faiths…… what im trying to say is muslim speakers who is making press releases of what they feel against the book and has lead their famous khomeni and his group in attemp to kill the author rushdie has many explanations to make for their actions or perhaps this groups unless supported by more groups in spreading terrorism all over the world must be dealt with in accordance with the law. You are affecting your fellow muslim brothers who wants to live in a peaceful life but are until now being casted as terrorists, extermist because of your over acting response in a fiction book?????
In the end, The Satanic Verses is just a novel. If you feel that it is stupid, or that it goes against what you believe in, then simply don’t read it. Forget about it. Get it out of your mind.
Violent reactions and death threats dishonor Islam far more than any book ever will.
whoever salman rushdie is, hurting the religous sentiments of any community shall not be allowed for maitaining peace and good relations between different communities and countries
You see in a muslim society, the word of the imam is like a law, they pass all the teachings of Prophet Mohammed in Quran to all the muslims in all levels of society ( child, boy or girl, young and especially old people to pass on from generations to generations. The uniqueness in muslims is that they are submissive people to their faith and this is the quality of islam way of teaching which i truly admire. And you can see the reactions of millions of muslims when their religious leaders reacted in rushdie’s novel which earned him a prestigious award from QE2. Religious leaders felt they are under attack and immidiately announced another hate campaign for the west. This muslim leaders must realize and be accountable in all their actions because instead of calming the situation they are the ones who are provoking muslims and motivating their people to do things which will eventually result in series of attack to innocent people. Has what is written in history about muslims being connected to terrorist activities not enough proof for muslims religious leaders to stop and think twice. What drives them in sacrificing their own peoples life for the sake of islam only religious leaders know how to do that spark, so in this satanic verses by rushdie is a really intriguing novel and must be read and understood by everyone, fiction or not but still very intriguing to read.
“whoever salman rushdie is, hurting the religous sentiments of any community shall not be allowed for maintaining peace and good relations between different communities and countries”
Then perhaps we should execute the mad mullahs of Iran for hurting the religious sentiments of the Zoroastrians, Christians, and Jews in Iran (whom they oppress), for hurting the religious sentiments of Jews everywhere (by demanding the destruction of Israel), and fur hurting the religious sentiments of Sunnis, Christians, and Druze in Lebanon as well as Sunnis, Christians, Druze, and Jews in Israel (by arming and supporting Hizbullah).
It’s too easy to hurt the “religious sentiments” of the Iranian and Wahabi pagans. You will find that those more secure in their monotheistic faith, like Jews and Christians, are less easily offended. Faith gives the strength to brush off satire and insults without resorting to violence.
If your god requires you to defend him, he is not the one true god. That’s the answer.
Idols require violent defenders, G-d does not.
Peace and good relations between communities are the result of depend on a willingness to live in peace and have good relations. I don’t see the rioters as willing to be peaceful and having good relations with anybody.
You know, I wouldn’t be surprised that a riot over Sir Salman’s knighthood will soon break out in Pakistan or somewhere - and some Muslims will die.
And then the Pakistanis will blame the UK, just like they blame the US, the Joooooz,… and on and on it goes.
As to Sir Salman, I find him to be quite an eloquent critic of the cultural divide. His is a valuable voice in the continuing clash of civilizations.
I wouldn’t call a bunch of violent idiots a “civilisation”.
The cold war was a clash of civilisations. Now we are just fighting barbarians.
Sherazi: did many Muslims not already dishonor the Prophet over the Danish cartoons ? Killing ppl over drawings ?
And now you wanna start all over again over a book written years ago ?
What would the Prophet himself do ? You talk of honor and dignity, be honorable and dignified. Let “us” infidels be dishonorable.
“we don’t understand your honor-code. “you” don’t understand our “freedom of speech” ….let us talk and learn.
Verily we were made into tribes and nations so that we may know each other.
Salaam from Denmark
Muhammed himself would remind people that they are not allowed to idolise him or anybody.
In fact, Muhammed has made that clear for all eternity. But unfortunately his wisdom requires people to read to know it.
What we have here are people who do not read the book they protest, who do not read the book they claim to follow, and who idolise a man.
Mr.HalalHippie!!!!!!
Waoo ur freedom of speach..Bravo…….My point is very simple.Let me clarify one thing i m not in the faavour of violance and i hate the idea of being violent with own friends and especially to the international comunity. I Belive in peace and harmony but just think ant it eother its uk or any other western cultural society want us to fight their war on terror and appeal muslims to help them making us the the first line of attack on the other hand aint they so hippocrate that they award those ppl whos mission is to give bad name to muslims and create caoas and misunderstanding between east and west.
Any one here tell me how come westers wants us to fight against terror and same time they put knifes in our backs…………………….
“they award those ppl whos mission is to give bad name to muslims and create caoas and misunderstanding between east and west.”
Let me, as a non-Muslim, tell you that it is the violent rioters who give Muslims a bad name. People like Rushdie make Muslims (i.e. people who originate from that culture) seem like individuals who can be sane and intelligent.
They create chaos and misunderstanding only among violent people.

There are Muslims who are impressive examples and they give Islam a very good name. A Muslim who sticks to his faith (i.e. surrenders to G-d’s will) even when in doing so he becomes an enemy of the Wahabi heretics and the pagans who idolise the man Muhammed, and even when in doing so he gives up Arab nationalism; that Muslim gives Islam a good name!
Thanks for the article, Andrew! I wasn’t sure what to think about the dude until he basically said “I do not know” about Canadian Muslims, and only mentioned general facts. That immediately made him valid in my book, as the few people who are able to admit lack of knowledge are usually honest and intelligent.
I like his clear and to the point answers as well.
“That immediately made him valid in my book, as the few people who are able to admit lack of knowledge are usually honest and intelligent.”
I have read many articles about him and written by him. He admits that he doesn’t know when he doesn’t know and he always backs up everything he says about Islam with relevant quotes, usualy from the Qur’an. He is well-read and a shining example of what Islam once was and could still be.
He is the type of person who should come to mind when you think “imam”. A well-read, educated, polite, and extremely reasonable man whose faith in G-d is so strong that he would happily oppose the establishment to defend those who are under even more fire than he is.
Unfortunately, currently, when I think “imam” what comes to mind is a violent nutter, an uneducated and illiterate coward, who teaches young idiots that they have to murder Jews and idolise Muhammed to go to heaven (and that they should hurry on their way).
Sherazi: thanx for your reply. I never thought of, “[the West] want us to fight their war on terror [and] award those ppl whos mission is to give bad name to muslims … could be connected.
Yes, “we” in the West would very much appreciate if “you” in the East
would help make the world a safer place. It should be in everybody’s interest.
“Any one here tell me how come westers wants us to fight against terror and same time they put knifes in our backs…”
more like pens I think. I don’t see any connection.
