Britain’s Prince Harry Is Bound For Iraq!!

As the UK prepares to withdraw some of its troops from Iraq, it also prepares to send Prince Harry there. Here’s more:

British royalty has a long history of service in the armed forces. Queen Elizabeth II was a uniformed driver in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II, along with her sister, Princess Margaret. Harry’s father, Charles, the Prince of Wales, earned his wings with the Royal Air Force in 1971, and his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh served on the battleship Valiant during wartime in 1941.

The most recent royal to see action was Prince Andrew, Harry’s uncle, who flew a Sea King helicopter as a decoy target accompanying British ships during the 1982 Falklands War.

Cool! I didn’t know this. Ehm ehm, hello Bush, are you there? Members of Congress anyone? Bush’s kids, are you lurking around? Maybe you should start reading this blog. Oh ya and Tony, just a friendly piece of advise, make sure Harry gets back safely, ’cause if he doesn’t, you’re going to get a lovely spanking, ya heard! LOL. ;)

Those in Congress would rather leave their positions than pull their kids out of those expensive universities and send them off to a 3rd world country, let alone Iraq. And as for T. Blair…he’s lucky he’s leaving office.

Um, the US congress has its share of Vietnam vets. Even John Kerry is one.

And McCain’s son is fairly certain to end up in Iraq.

I know about McCain and John Kerry. However my point still stands that very very few members of Congress would be willing to send their kids to Iraq.

Actually, Harry’s been a bit of an embarrassment for the Royals, what with dressing up as a Nazi, and getting into pub brawls and such. Very unroyal - but also very second-in-line-to-the-throne type behavior. I’m betting that the powers that be are hoping that active service will either quiet him down, shellshock him for life, or worse. One thing’s for sure, it won’t be a picnic.

LOL, I know. Let’s hope all goes well with him. It’s going to be major news if he gets kidnapped and beheaded on a militant video.

Actually, the royal family didn’t want him to go. But Harry threatened to leave the army if he was ordered to say behind while his regiment went to Iraq.
So I dont think the royal family is planning anything to quit him down or something.

    @ Sudanesethinker.

You have to remember that the royal family and the aristocratic elite are pretty extensive. And most of them show the same behaviour as the US politicians when it comes to their own children serving in the army

BO - I know that it was his choice. And I’m not suggesting that they would orchestrate anything to hurt him on purpose. But given that he’s going, I’m sure they’re hoping it will at least make him grow up.

*nod* When it comes to actually risky military service, the British aristocracy and the US congressmen aren’t that different. Both have their share of people who have been there and whose kids plan to be there, but by and large they’ll do their very best to keep their kids out of a battlefield. The only difference between them and any other parent is the ability to get this done. Which is why those of us who can’t feel bitter about the issue.
