And now I leave you with Akon’s best song ever. Mama Africa! If the bassline doesn’t make you want to move your body, then there’s something really wrong with you!
UPDATE: It seems like Akon’s “Mama Africa” is a remake of this song. Here’s the original called “Dem Gone“.

Love it, Very soulful.
I prefer Mama Africa over Dem Gone. The similarities don’t seem that striking to me. Lovely song.
Dem Gone is great
Walla Jamaica here I come… (I wish)
Akon is nice as well
hmm… I can’t say that I am a fan. Seems pretty blaise, eer however you spell that.
Hi Drima. The new versions sound nice. The beat and lyrics have changed a little. However, in terms of lyrics the Akon song is closer to original song.
The original song “mama africa” was by Peter Tosh and it was also an album 1983. I believe Tosh come up with the strong after travelling to Africa from Jamaica to make a spiritual connection.

However, I got introduced to song by Garnet Silk and Buju Banton in 90’s… my favorite is the Garnet Silk version which is more soulful…
I am more familiar with southern african music, such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo:
