I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t get excited over Kofi’s “huge success” in getting al-Bashir to accept UN troops. I would have ended up becoming very disappointed. It all turned out as I expected. The good news is that the AU has extended its mandate until June 2007.

Awwww, Drima, how could you be so cynical as not to trust Mr. Annan? After all, he is only the fifth or so worst mass-murdering war criminal of the 20th century. It’s not as if he’s Stalin or something.

    tsk tsk tsk.

Oh well, Anan is a fruit cake.

I wouldn’t want to see the fruit that went to make *that* particular cake.

Will extending the mandate make any difference? What has the AU achieved since their deployment? Havoc is still being wreaked in Darfur. The AU is but a name.I’m not fully blaming them because they are under-funded.
I see no solution in the near future.Sry for being cynical.

btw, what happened to Jan Pronk?
