Podcast Test

Woohooooooooo, I’m done with my freaking exams!! Alright so before packing up my stuff, I decided to test the podcast feature and see if it actually works. I did a quick rant over a beat that I made just now in like 10 minutes. It’s got a “happy feel” to it. I mean hey can you blame me? I’m done with my papers. Yaaaaaay! Excuse the sound quality though. Let me know if you all have any problem downloading and listenting to it. BTW let’s try doing something to make this blog a little more “interactive”. If you have a mic, do a short recording that is less than 30 seconds. Say something like “Hi, my name is bla bla bla, I’m from bla bla bla and I looove the Sudanese Thinker” ;) After that attach the sound clips and send them to me by email. In the next podcast I’ll put them all together so that we can all get to know how each one of us sounds like. It will make the discussions a little more “personal” since we’ll be able to associate the voice with the words everytime we read each others’ comments. Words alone are a little too dry. It should be cool don’t you think? :)

Download by clicking here. I hope it works.

    Ok…

You sound younger and more American “cool” than I expected.

I’ll see if the microphone in my iMac can record my voice well enough.

    Yaaaaaaay it works :)

“You sound younger and more American “cool” than I expected.”

Is that good or bad? Tongue out

    I don’t know. I prefer British English.

  4. Drima on November 30th, 2006 11:35 am

Ooooh i c. Well in that in case, I’ll do a special tiny segment just for you in my next podcast. I’ll put on my fake my but real sounding British accent. :)

    Congrats on the exams, mate!

NP d/loading and listening… even if I had to stop Steve Vai’s “Ya-Yo Gakk” in the middle for it :)

You sound EXACTLY like a guy I know . I found you out! You’re actually a white Ashkenazi Israeli Jew who just finished army, and your name is Osher! :)

In general, I disagree about words being too dry. There is purity in disembodied communication - voice carriess too much associative impact (intonations, accent, speed, pitch, etc).

And you’re not answering your E-mails!

“And you’re not answering your E-mails!”

    just answered it.

Hey Drima you sound like Michael Jackson! How come you have an American accent?!!

  8. Egypeter on November 30th, 2006 4:36 pm

Haha, you’re awesome Drima! I liked it.

Mabrouk on finishing those pesky exams! Now you can concentrate on what’s really important…like blogging :)

And you “sound” like I imagined you would. Don’t you dare lose that “American” accent!

    Salaam ya basha

Drima, you sound great! You could host a pop radio station over here no problemo! Liked your music choice, too. Sounded upbeat, like you.

please don’t do your fake British accent…
    hahahahahahahah
I like the ending.. its more lively than your older stuff. (:

that’s cool.. no really.. sounds kind of professional :). Liked your voice.
I very much go for voices.. Sometimes for me hearing someone’s voice can be even more personal then seeing someone.. (guess I am the “hearing-type” ;)

too bad that I don’t have a mic.. I was told that I have a quite sexy voice ;). (but that’s probably also a question of taste.. and of how much sleep I got the night before, and probably it is also not true when I speak english.. my voice is changing with the language…)

Congrats on your finished papers and enjoy your time!!

Wow, you sound CUUUUTE :D And you woke me up as well - such energy outburst LOL
I don’t have a mic (I don’t have a webcam either - I’m already so very happy that I know how to turn this pc on and off )
If I would have a mic I’d record this:

    saja suka sama kamu :D
    (that’s malaysian fyi, haha)

    Mazzaltov with finishing your exams.

American accent or not - he is THE best. :D

Pleeease make one of the Qatari accent soon. The Arabs will enjoy it.

Yaaay. I’m glad the response is good. I was afraid I would sound way too hyper for you guys.

Well look forward to the next podcast. I’ll do my best to make you laugh. I don’t wana make it a typical boring academic type of podcast. It will be informative but it will have a “comedy talk show” twist to it.

Oh and I have an American accent? I didn’t realize that until now. Hmmmm maybe it’s the American music I’m listening to 24/7 or maybe it’s coz I picked it up from my eldest brother who’s been living in America for the past decade. (I started learning English 9 years ago btw).

Aimster what’s wrong with my British accent? Sure it’s fake but it sounds real enough to convince people (I hope). :)

Tse, bagus! Dari mana kau belajar bahasa Melayu?

Anyways, I’m using my roomate’s PC. I’ve got more stuff to pack up.

    Laters people. One love.

    Cheers!

  17. Drima on December 1st, 2006 1:10 pm

  18. tsedek on December 1st, 2006 2:42 pm

I was partly raised in an Indonesian stepfamily (in the netherlands, where I’m from) and, although they spoke dutch, mixed maaaaaany Malay words and expressions when talking ;)

    It’s only a pitty i forgot almost everything….
