I agree that dems have a marked tendency to answer every abuse with economic sanctions. I also agree that is useless and usually counterproductive. The good news is that since our republican party has effectively shut out and refused to have any dialogue with the “centrists” of this country and the democratic party has bent over backwards to embrace us…the face of the democratic party is changing.

Even so, the writers’ perception of the dems as “socialist” in the true sense of the word is a grave misconception and shows a deep misunderstanding of the american psyche. Do we have true socialists? Sure, just like we have true psychopaths and any other thing you could think of. They probably number about 1% to 5% of the voters…on a good day.

Is there an element of racism and/or religious prejudice in our lack of interest in some cases? You betcha there is. Thinking it exists in one party or the other to a significantly greater or lesser degree would be huge mistake.

Yes, Bush is made of a “different metal”, for one he is incapable of admitting he is indeed not infallible. Yes, he has “stayed the course” in Iraq, do I need to point out how well that has been working out? Very true that most dems would have done a mea culpa long before now and pulled out, frankly that is not a problem for me. Some in the ME would likely choose to interpret that as weakness. Word to the wise: never mistake an ability to admit ones’ mistakes as weakness. Or come on over and get a huge surprise.

The American people for the most part figure people tend to end up with the governments they deserve based on their actions and choices. It upsets us no end when that is one that oppresses, tortures, and outright murders it’s own citizens. They also have come to believe that intervening is often like stepping in to rescue a woman who is being abused by her husband, most of the time the woman turns around and joins with the husband to attack the rescuer. Tell me THAT isn’t so.

Wether republican or democrat, upon closer inspection the writer would find that the American people are sick and tired of trying to help and getting kicked in the face and spit on for their efforts. Sure we intervened in Ireland, in Bosnia, in many other places in the world over the years…the Bosnians, the Irish and the assorted others did not come over here and blow us up for our efforts.

Be grateful the republicans are out of power, there is a large segment of the right that would fully favour dropping a few very large bombs on a few key areas and having done with the mess. Kill ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out is the saying. Believe when I tell you they would have no compunctions about doing so.

America did not just become a nation of liberal “hippies” that wants to promote free-love and send flowers to her enemies. America just got sick of insane policies that are not working and being embroiled in continuous fighting in societies that could give a rat’s butt less about us and would sooner see us dead so they could resume killing each other without interference. Harsh, but that is the way most of the US sees it once you scratch the surface.

I associate myself very closely to NotYourMama.

I have responded to this so-called South Sudan political analyst, John A. Akec, in his own back yard. He may not approve my response.

Drima, pardon my language. This article was not interesting. It is a crock.

I didn’t respond here, because Drima has already read my Darfur’s Delusions.
