Yaaaay, the conspiracy theories have already started. God, what took them so long? (hat tip: eteraz)

Yawn. Note to Jihadi pundits: it ain’t all about you.
Ellison isn’t “tying to deceive” you, you don’t factor into this at all. You are not his constituency and you can’t vote. He also takes a pretty dim view of running around killing people you don’t like. If that makes him a “traitor” then I’m fairly certain he’s down with that.
ahh. I dont belive in AQ, to be honest with you, they are a extreamly shady organization, and their stances on issues, are very un-islamic. Many stances are so stupid and theologically flaud that one cant not help but to fall on the floor laughing. The whole thing just reeks of something. In anycase, Keith is not a Muslim in my opinion. I dont know what the JOOOOZ have to do with it.
The reason why I call Keith a non-Muslim is I do not know how anyone in good faith can work for the US government. Maybe he is trying to bring change, I dont know the whole thing is bizzare, I personally dont vote, because I cant live with the idea that some kid would die, because of some decision I helped make.
Thanks, Drima, to bring this bit of news to our attention; I honestly think I would never have found out otherwise.
As a (Finnish-) American, I would never have guessed that Al Qaeda had some issues with Ellison. I imagined that they would have welcomed his success. But… this bit of news was quite interesting.
I’m not entirely sold on Ellison as of yet; he needs to prove himself in Congress, with a voting record that can be analyzed by the public so that his true positions can be revealed.
Even if he doesn’t represent my state, in many ways he is a representative of the American Muslim community. As such, I wish him success.
Libyan Observer: The reason why I call Keith a non-Muslim is I do not know how anyone in good faith can work for the US government.
A member of Congress is not in charge of the administration of the US government. The elected president is in charge of the government. The Congress acts as a checks-and-balances on the president. As such, Ellison is actually in the right position, for those Muslims who are critical of the policies of the US government.
“The reason why I call Keith a non-Muslim is I do not know how anyone in good faith can work for the US government. ”
Let’s leave that for Allah to decide. Who are we to judge?
Frankly Finnpundit, I’ve seen a lot of bashing done to Keith Ellison but personally I’m happy that he made it to Congress. As for Al-Qaeda, this is just further proof of how retarded they are.
PS: I never knew you were American.
Keith Ellison is a so-called Muslim by Nation Of Islam’s standards.
The NOI, to put it bluntly, has hijacked the name of ” Islam” & polluted it with their own flawed idealogies, mainly as one friend stated “Instead it focuses more on breaking the shackles and chains that have incarcerated the minds of Black people here in the US.”
That is why Malcom X(RIP) left them after he came back from Hajj because he discovered that their indoctrinations clash with that of the real ” Islam”.
Personally, I have nothing against him but the hoopla about him being a Muslim & all is overrated.
Hipster, according to what I have read, he left Nation of Islam after realizing the racist elements it contains and instead embraced true Islam.
Strange, I read an article about him that stated that he was still there.
Anyway, thankx for the clarification.
Could you plz answer my emails?
@The Libyan Observer: “I personally dont vote, because I cant live with the idea that some kid would die, because of some decision I helped make.”
That is an interesting take on the matter, but you should realize that some kid could still die because of some decision you refused to help make by not voting. You don’t get rid of responsibility by denying it. My favorite quote about responsibility was made by Hyman G. Rickover, the founder of the US nuclear Navy. He said:
“Responsibility is a unique concept: it can only reside and inhere in a single individual. You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you. You may disclaim it, but you cannot divest yourself of it. Even if you do not recognize it or admit its presence, you cannot escape it. If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance, or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the person who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible.”
