   The US doesn’t ban hate speech. It is as simple as that. Saying that you want a group of people to be killed isn’t illegal in the US. To be illegal you must also have a period of urgency and reasonable means to carry out attacks. For this reason it is illegal to incite a mob to violence (in person) or to yell “Fire!” in a theater, but it isn’t illegal to release albums like this.

   Please note that conspiring to commit any other violent act is separate from this hate speech issue. Again you can say that you want or wish a certain race to be eliminated with no legal problem–but once you start making plans then you have broken US law (again the urgency and reasonable means issues).

   I support this interpretation of freedom of speech. I think it forces each generation to learn why racism and bigotry are wrong first hand and then makes them fight it. Blocking hate speech will only make people forget the evils. Safety from racism and bigotry aren’t protected by laws and police forces–they are protected by the will of society as a whole.

    I don’t worry about abberant behaviors…blips on the screen…I worry about trends…this is no trend…just money seekers and/or morons representing morons.

    But of course racism is alive and well in the USA and probably the worse I see tends to come from blacks who think because they took so much shit they have carte blanche for saying all kinds of racist stuff. But people are people…what makes the USA stand out is that we have pretty much remained a country of law with lots of checks and balances and lots of lawsuit hungry lawyers…free press and all that stuff…it keeps our primitive tendencies more controlled. Take that lid of and I am certain we have our own janjeweed all ready to rape and pillage.

    Sorry, I have to disagree with howie. I think I’ve been seeing a definite trend and being kinda old I’ve lived through enough to usually distinguish between a blip and a trend.

    I hope I am wrong, I want to be wrong about this but I don’t think so. Granted it is mostly in certain segments of society but they are getting louder, bolder, and more organized.

    Rather than talking about banning speech I think we (the US) need to, just for once, look at the social conditions we have been creating that are fueling
    this. Of course no one ever consults me on these matters so we’ll likely just ignore it until it explodes in our faces.

    I’m certain you are correct about having our own ready-made janjeweed here though. I could even start giving names of the local ones just itching to light it up.

    Whites are no monolith. For example…I am not crazy about the KKK or the Aryan Nation. There may be parts of the USA where whites consider themselves a “group”…but naw…that is an oversimplification.

    People have their tribes. I have seen cross town high schools that utterly hate each other…

    Hatred can be based on so many things…race, religion, political positions, idealogy, geographical area, money, power. There was a time in the USA where rancher were shooting at sheepherds and I am sure they hated each other. North lustfully killed South and vis-versa, and the were basically all trout-belly white.

    I don’t claim to fully understand this phenomena, but I do believe it is quite complex and fluid.

    I do understand why we should all hate the Irish though.

My only explanation is that every racist in the US bought this record due to the media coverage, because Americans just aren’t racist like that. The whole thing is so bizarre.

    It is called free speech. The company that markets their album is Resistance Records. Resistance was founded (or at least owned until his death) by the author of the Turner Diaries and head of the neo-Nazi National Alliance, William Pierce. The Turner Diaries is the novel that inspired Timothy McVeigh to bomb the Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Nice crowd, huh?

    I’m surprised they could sell so many albums. Especially since they didn’t seem to be very good musicians judging by videos from YouTube. Lol. Still, they are young and they may improve as they get older and that is the scary part.

    For these girls, probably not. They are just old-fashioned racists. For the album’s purchasers I am inclined to say that is probably so. It isn’t just the actual immigrants from Mexico and Latin America, it is the fact that Hispanics for the most part remain poor, remain poorly educated, and have very high rates of illegitimacy , welfare dependency, gang involvement, and criminal activity generation after generation. They are assimilating to the worst norms of American society. African-Americans remain a population with enormous problems as well. Our society is too politically correct to confront all of these issues in a mature and thoughtful way so our mass media just shoves it all under the rug. When people, especially young people, are confronted by the reality they aren’t getting from the mainstream media, they look for other outlets. The neo-Nazis/KKK/Aryan Nations are waiting in the wings with a different perspective towards things. It isn’t pretty.

    Case in point: a friend of mine from high school became involved in a neo-Nazi group some time after being robbed by Mexican gang members at gunpoint. He was angry at the lack of police response to the incident (they shrugged it off, for the most part) and was angered by the increasing crime and deterioration of his neighborhood with the influx of Hispanics and by the inability of people to do anything about it or even acknowledge the problem openly.

    Having lived in places with a predominately white population and areas that are more mixed ethnically, I can tell you that first-hand experience with other races doesn’t necessarily generate more understanding in spite of what multiculturalists like to claim. I can also tell you that more ethnically diverse neighborhoods are typically worse places to live than predominantly white neighborhoods like it or not.

    And about this article being a hoax. Yup, it’s very likely coz I was searching hard for the original place where this article was published and I couldn’t find it. It was mostly in Afro-American blogs and some Arab ones. However the fact remains that these girls are very racist. And like you said, their music is quite sucky LOL. … for now that is… Sigh!

    Drima, no, I wasn’t making a comment about you in particular, as I know you’ve been critical of such practices. It was just a comment for comparative purposes.

    But here’s more food for thought, now that you got me going: racism is, of course, reprehensible, but I wouldn’t condemn it only on the basis of morality, as I find moral justifications always bring along some unwanted baggage.

    Racism is also reprehensible because it is economically stupid. The wealth of any society is reduced because racial divisions prevent the maximum optimization of markets, labor skills, ideas, opportunities and innovation. Racism creates artificial barriers to trade, to the detriment of racists and their targets.

    Indeed, the majority of us who are not obsessed with racist issues also wind up suffering, due to the incredible loss of time, wealth and resources lost in racist confrontations. Just look at the billions in international funds wasted in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, when both of these people could make use of each others’ mutual resources in creating billions for themselves.

    Finnpundit makes perfect sense to me, he’s right. Racism IS a huge waste and drain on resources exploited by a small minority of people who use it as a tool to consolidate their own power base.

    I do personally tend to look at things from my own secular-humanist pov but I also realize that not everyone is a humanist so when trying to argue a case I tend to use the economic and pragmatic points.

    Somewhat yes, but it also and probably much more significantly has to do
    with disenfranchisement, both economic and political.

    Something “my side”, the dems, have tended to overlook is the fact that there are huge numbers of ordinary, every day, white people who are barely hanging on to economically marginal lifestyles. Their parents and their grandparents didn’t live like this, until recently each generation pretty much grew up with the expectation of living at least as well as if not better than their parents. The realities have changed so who to blame? Well, surely it must be the fault of these “foreign invaders” who must be taking it all. This thinking has definitely been encouraged by much of our right-wing.

    It’s definitely in the best interests of the people who really are reaping all the rewards to have us think so now isn’t it? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a happy little capitalist but let’s just say…not as piggish about it as some.

    If people would think about the bigger picture and understand that having millions of people living in an “underclass” so a handful can have a bigger piece of pie is not beneficial to the country or to them in the end game, we might get somewhere. In the meantime we’ll continue trying to kill each other like rabid animals.

    It isn’t entirely their fault by any means. However, when you consider that the fact that back in the 50’s and 60’s you could make a decent livable wage working a blue-collar job requiring practically no education while today we have outsourced most of those jobs overseas and at the same time as we are bringing in immigrants to compete with natives for what remains of low-wage dead-end service jobs (and taking advantage of government handouts to boot) it isn’t any wonder people are resentful. We give our jobs to the Mexicans and the Mexicans give their poor to us. Fair trade, indeed.

    I think controversial paleo-con Steve Sailer nicely sums up what is fundamentally wrong with today’s liberal/neo-con (and, on immigration, libertarian) policies: invade the world; invite the world; in hoc to the world. That is, invade the world (Iraq), invite the world (Latin American illegals), in hoc to the world (record trade deficits with countries like China). That isn’t a very sound long-term plan for a country that plans to be a world leader a century from now. A nation of high-school dropouts cannot carry us forward into a bright future.

Mexican-Americans who have been here for four generations are far behind and not showing any significant signs of improvement from second or third generation Mexican Americans. This is in spite of the fact that we spend more than practically any other country per capita on education. Not good. And those Hispanics who are getting their high school diploma? Well, fortunately for them, if not for the rest of us, educational standards in heavily Hispanic areas have been dumbed down so far that having an 8th-grade education is sufficient to get your diploma.

    That’s your first problem right there. I argue from statistics and averages and you want to refute that by appealing to anecdotal evidence. This is the standard overlap fallacy that liberals are so fond of: if A and B show some overlap then A and B must be the same.

    Examples:

    Some rich people are lazy. So are some poor people. Therefore, the rich and the poor are equally lazy.

    Some women are as strong, or stronger than, some men (female bodybuilders). Therefore men and women are equally strong.

    Some women commit the same amount of crime as some men do. Therefore men and women commit the same amount of crime.

    Some men do as well as women do on the verbal section of an IQ test. Therefore, men and women do equally well on the verbal portion of an IQ test.

    Some Mexicans do as well in school as whites. Therefore, whites and Mexicans do equally well in school.

    Well, I’m an agnostic in case you are assuming I’m a Christian. However, I will say that in spite of spending only a fraction of the amount of money on education as California, the Mormon state, Utah, does far better educationally.

    Newsflash: not everyone does.

    My argument doesn’t concern what you or anybody wants or doesn’t want. My argument is that a nation composed of an increasingly large number of poorly educated people is going to be proportionately less likely to produce the sort of high-educated professionals needed to maintain a First World society. That is an objective observation that may or may not suit your wants.

    If reality doesn’t suit your wants, then I humbly apologize for that. Unfortunately, I cannot do much about it. I’ve learned it is best to look at truth squarely and go from there. Attempting to bend reality to ideological cravings and emotional desires is never a terribly successful endeavor. Shape your world-view around reality, not vice-versa.

    Hispanics are inferior. If that isn’t racism then I don’t know what is.

    I didn’t state that. But hey, who cares? Racism is a cheap and easy charge to those around these days. Throw it around all you want. I am saying that admitting more (often non-English speaking) Hispanics, at this point, when those already here do so poorly in school isn’t going to improve the educational situation. Let us apply the first rule of holes here: when in a hole, stop digging yourself deeper. We need to work to help those who are already here improve, not make the problem worse by granting amnesty to illegals, starting a guest worker program (which will lead to the inevitable anchor babies), or not doing anything about those streaming across our borders.
