“America is going down! It’s the start of the collapse of American imperialism! Russia is going back to its communist roots. China will soon be the biggest economy in the world! Russia and China will slowly form a strong alliance. North Korea is great man! Iran will soon be a giant too! Yaaay!”. These are the type of reactions I’m hearing all around me nowadays. I don’t argue much with them and I just let them slide. Many of those people are just following the “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” rule. What I certainly don’t understand however is when people start praising Kim Jong II and call him “a great man”. Gee, what the hell is so great about him? Fine, he defied “filthy evil Zionst” America and went ahead with the nuclear test but still, what the hell makes him a great man? People who say this kind of retarded crap ought to go and live under his “lovely” rule.

Anti-Americans have been making those kinds of predictions since… well… since 1776. And the ones in 1776 had stronger arguments.
I take it you live in “Poopa Majoma”, Drima. Well, it’s interesting to learn that people down there are THAT stupid, too. Simply wouldn’t have imagined it.
Sure, no friends of America (you don’t even need to be Muslim to hate that country, though it apparently helps). But not to pause for a moment to consider what a Russio-Chinese dominance on the world stage would mean for them!

Exactly!! I’m not a big fan of Bush but I would certainly prefer America to be the superpower rather than China, Russia or even Iran.
Most of the people who’ve been saying these kind of things around me aren’t locals (except for the taxi drivers that can’t keep quite). I don’t hang out with many locals in my campus but I often instead meet up with my very close local friends from highschool.
I don’t mind people being super critical of America… However being blinded by anti-Americanism to the extent of not seeing the obvious is a totally different super dumb thing.
Michael, sorry about that but I could get busted big time for allowing it… I get some local readers to my blog who hardly comment. Unfortunately a few know my identity but aren’t close friends with me. I wouldn’t wanna stir up sensitive issues if you know what I mean.

upon noticing your little emendations I was at first a little irritiated — until I read your explanatory post.
And of course “Poopa Majoma” is just wonderful and cracks me up. For some reason it evokes the image of a big, juicy, slightly overripe grapefruit in my mind.
Thanks, glad u understand… It’s funny how I wouldn’t bother to be too carefull if I was in America… I feel more confident practicing my freedom of speech there rather than in “other” places where the “freedom” can get you in deep trouble.
