This year marked the second season of the reality tv competition searching for Israel’s Next Top Model (the show is a knock off of Tyra Bank’s program “America’s Next Top Model”). The three finalists are depicted in this picture. All are Israeli young women. Two are Jewish, one is Muslim. Kristine, the blond model was born in Russia. Mimi, the black model was born in Ethiopia. Her family belongs to the group of courageous Ethiopian Jews who braved starvation, exposure to the elements, wild animals, brutal marauders and exhaustion to escape Ethiopia by WALKING to the Holy Land. Niral, the brown haired beauty on the left, was born in Israel to a Muslim-Israeli family. Niral won the competition and is now “Israel’s Next Top Model.”

Seen here at her home, without the special make-up and lighting she would have at a photo-shoot Niral’s natural beauty is very obvious. Niral, an Israeli Muslim, did not win the competition to be the model representing Israel because of political correctness. Niral won because she was the best model. Unlike the American version of the tv show, in Israel the public votes for the model they like best. The Israeli public overwhelmingly chose Niral. Arab Israelis voted for her. Jewish Israelis voted for her. They liked her looks and they loved her temperament - Niral has a strong personality, she stands up for herself and is true to her beliefs. All these things gained her the respect of the Israeli public. One of the stickers on her door is a slogan coined from a phrase she used during the competition which can be loosely translated as “don’t tread on me babe!”

I like the chick on the far left the best, but then none of these are really my kind, even though I can see what people might find attractive about them. I prefer brunettes to blondes (usually). I always find the substantial number of blonde Jews promoted by Israel as beauty contestants rather humorous. (The Germans have the opposite tendency: they ten to underpromote their blondes in beauty pageants.) I don’t mind certain black chicks; some East African women are gorgeous; Ayaan Hirsi Ali and that Somali chick married to David Bowie both spring to mind. But the one in this picture doesn’t appeal to me for some reason. Even the Arab chick on the far left has, to some extent, a disturbingly dopey look vaguely like that of Paris Hilton that turns me off.

Well my friends call me Oreo coz I’m not really into the “afrocentric” look and coz I listen to too much “white rock” they say. They think I’m white on the inside but black on the outside… I think they just love to exagerate but I do admit I have tastes in music and girls that don’t confirm to what most Afro people would like. A simple example is the fact I love house and rave music.
For me the blonde is a definte no no. She’s waaay too pale and a little scary… The black chick ain’t so bad but the short hair is a turn off so no to her too. The Arab chick on the left doesn’t look bad in the second pic. She’s kinda cute but still not my type… I know I know I’m way too picky…
Personally I have no specifc taste in gurls but one thing is for sure. No super blonde pale chicks like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson or the chick in the middle of the above picture and No super dark chicks with fuzzy hair… Those are the 2 extremes that I don’t find attractive… That’s just my taste…

The latest chick I’ve been madly in love with is the girl who acted in Fast&Furious: Tokyo Drift… She’s HOT… Also who’s that non-blonde chick who acts in small-ville?? I’m not into big-booty Afro women….. For instance Beyonce is a little big for me with her “jiggly” thighs… A little too much meat. Plus she would be a little difficult to “steer” in bed
Truth be told and I think this applies to everyone here… It’s the combination of looks and personality that determines the forces of attraction… I’ve been out with gurls whom I didn’t find that attractive in the start but after starting a lovely conversation they suddenly become beauty queens… So basically the rules don’t hold so rigidly all the time…
BTW, I took ur advice and watched Goodfellas… It is Da SHYTE! I got hooked from the first scence where they open the trunk to kill the guy properly…

I think the black girl has the most piercing look there. Her gaze just pulls you towards her. Not digging the hair tho. She would look better with longer hair. and darker hair. Not really drawn to the Arab girl (Drima, she reminds me of Sh- - - y. They have that same kinda look, i think.

I think ANTM isn’t racially biased ‘cos other raced gals have won (Naema, etc.) I think people vote according to personalities rather than ability though. (no offence to anyone) but Americans (more so than others) are more emotional ppl right? and I guess everyone votes for who they like at the end of the day. There are a lot of variables.

Hirsi Ali is not bad looking for a politician. I’d rank her up there with Ukraine’s Yulia Timoschenko. You have to realize that most politicians are older and past their prime. I’d take either over Hillary Clinton or Barbara Boxer or Diane Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi any day!

I was discussing something along these lines at LGF a few nights ago. I got into a discussion with some people about how some women look really good on television but don’t look so hot in still photos. There is something about the animation of some women’s faces and the ability to see them from multiple angles consecutively that makes them look a lot sexier than they look in an ordinary photo. We concluded it may have something to do with facial symmetry. The cardinal example of all this for me is Salma Hayek. Not that great looking most still photos, but stunning whenever I see her on television or the movies.
Oh! And put these Irish chicks up for possible hottest female musicians:
The Coors. (Though country singer Faith Hill isn’t too bad either.)

Raccoon, I absolutely agree. I freaking hate current commercial rap and the “gangsta” culture associated with it. I find it so fake and void.
Tupac and a few others are exceptions. Tupac never glorified it. If you pay attention to all his music and listen to it, you’d understand that he was against it but rapped about it so that he could expose all the crap going on that not many paid attention to.
Eminem, 50cent, Ja Rule and ALOT of others are garbage… But hey you’ve gotta love the beats man… Especially Dr. Dre’s…
Personally I love progressive, intellectual and conscience rap by people like Common, The Roots & Mos Def… Between today’s mostly commercial hip hop and the classic one, I would defintely choose classic… If you check my rap and hip hop music collection, you’d notice it’s mostly old skool… Old skoolz da shyte!
