Denying The Forced Conversions

The kidnapping of 2 Fox journalists in Gaza is already old news. Most Muslims I’ve met acknowledge that it did happen but when news of their forced conversion to Islam at gunpoint came out after they were released, things changed. Add to that Jill Carol’s story.
Some of my friends now tell me they’re sick of American propaganda against Islam and all the lies. Well guess what? I’m sick of propaganda against Islam too but this is certainly not propaganda. Not every “bad thing” you read is propaganda. I don’t doubt that the forced conversion happened and saying otherwise is self-denial in my opinion so please stop it.
Muslims, we must face the reality that there are a bunch of other loony Muslims out there doing some crazy sick stuff.
Anyways, so my friends continued with their denials until I told them to watch this video. Some got convinced and others said the journalists converted willingly. Buahaha, ya sure willingly. Just accept it. Why can’t you? Do you realize that when you deny such things you become part of the problem. Plus, the journalists got released and even said themselves that they were forced to convert at gunpoint.
Muslims, we need to face reality. I mean hey, do you think I like all these new terms like “Islamofascism”, “Islamikaze”, “Islamonazis” etc. ? I don’t, but it’s not like they just simply popped out of nowhere and for no reason. They popped out and hit the mainstream because loony terrorists are doing sick acts in the name of Islam.
Instead of being in self-denial, we need to wake up, face the reality and speak out against crazy extremist Muslims. The blame game is wrong. Media bias exists and US foreign policy might not be pleasant but don’t deny the “in your face” facts. Extremist and literal interpretations of the Quran must be fought. They’re the root cause. Please don’t deny it.

Interestingly, many Americans would say that the American media bends over backwards to separate “crazy extremist Muslims” from Islam. I’m wondering why your friends are unable to do so (seriously). Is there a belief that individuals who profess Islam are unable to sin or error?
Drima,
Your post is a powerful statement for Muslims of reason, peace, and true tolerance and coexistance with others of different faiths to join in helping people of other faiths work together in order to help Muslims and non-Muslims alike recognize that there is indeed a difference between the Islam of the fascist variety and the Islam of peace that is the only Islam that you and other Muslims of the same mind have known their whole lives.
Only by doing so and also working together to combat the dark ideology and plans of the Islamists (radical fundamentalist Muslims), can a freedom-loving people turn back the dangerous wave of terror that threatens all of us.
Apologies for the rant…..
The consensus in Islam is that no muslim will combat another muslim, even if it is guilty.
So this is because a muslim can not be espected to help a kafir against a criminal muslim. This would go against all is teached to them.
The only way out is to say that the criminal is not a muslim, but this is difficult when the criminal is able to justify he’s doing with the Quran, and other islamic texts.
And now I see that the west as a whole has been issued an invitation to Islam by al-Zawahiri himself. I’m wondering now. Does every non-muslim living in the west have to make a video tape like these 2 journalists did or do they just pick someone to speak for them to accept? Considering that the invitation is a necessary thing before declaring war and attacking, should the west now consider this invitation as being duly warned? If there was to be a war against Islam where do you think the first bombs would fall? You won’t see me going anwhere near Mecca or Medina anytime in the near future.
Everybody’s gotta stand up against evil within one’s own society. It would be daydreaming to think bad things are only committed by people outside of one’s own circle. Not only muslims must be made aware of that, but just: everybody. It are the cheating forces from within that will destroy “us” finally, and not the “outside powers” - who will be reacting only to the evil done to them from other circles from within and make the rest suffer.
Tse.
btw I got the following while trying to submit above reaction:

Sorry, bad luck on this one, cow-boy, try again. You have 4 attempts left.
Excellent post. I’ve made many posts similar on my blog. Perpetual victimhood is a disease that seems to affect many Muslims. I have readers who call me racist if I were to write what you just wrote Drima.
Yes, Muslims are being picked on…but one of the biggest reasons is that there isn’t very many like you, who are not apologizing for the behaviour of the bad guys or being silent about the bad guys, yet whining about how the West deals with the bad guys and the repercussions of dealing with them.
Um Haleema:
The war has begun a while ago. Dawa for the whole west was done by Bin Laden, AJ, and a whole bunch of other terrorist leaders. And the bombs have already fallen, in Madrid, London, New York, Tel Aviv…
Drima is, unfortunately, a minority.
I’m curious as to what the kidnappers were hoping to acheive.. I mean if I had a gun at my head, I’d learn how to speak the Shahada in fluent Arabic in no time. And then after release have an imam void the conversion.
Doesn’t the average Muslim want a convert to be sincere ? A forced conversion doesn’t count, does it ?
You get google points in heaven for bringing a kufr to embrace Islam, right ? But if you cheat, (ie. use force) do you get points withdrawn ?
Who were the kidnappers trying to convince, and of what ?
(your new site rocks, btw)
“Doesn’t the average Muslim want a convert to be sincere ?”
Halalhippie, that’s exactly my point. Those people are so absurd and that’s why they piss me off so much. A forced conversion doesn’t count at all. A Muslim becomes a Muslim at heart and not by simpley uttering a few words. It’s the intention that counts and not that Shahada itself.
Hey Drima -
Excellent and powerful post!! You are an greatt example of a good muslim and voices like yours should be the future of Islam. The trick is is how do we convince the vast majority? I’m afraid you’re swimming upstream, as evident by some of your friends, and they’re probably relatively liberal too. Well, I wish you the best of luck!
“A Muslim becomes a Muslim at heart and not by simpley uttering a few words. It’s the intention that counts”
Hoping _every_ Muslim agrees on that: what would be the propaganda purpose of showing the 2 hostages “converting” ? I mean, knowing they’re captive, would the “Average Ali” really believe it ?
Egypeter, there are more sane Muslims out there than I expected, but (still) not enough toform a critical mass. Don’t despair.
