Everything has a thread of truth in it, Drima, you must know as the best. The refuseniks claims as well as Raccoon’s account can be true. Interpreting it according to one’s own perspective is what makes the difference.

I assume we can take it as read that a country which allows these things to happen would have no problems with someone writing a newspaper opinion about it?
Seriously now, I don’t think it is very difficult to find any number of people who will make the wildest claims about the IDF, inside and outside Israel. What exactly that tells us I do not know.
Did somebody check whether these people are actually missing? And how does the reservist know that they are being tortured?
Andrew - about missing; yeah, they are. Arrests are a routine IDF operation, and some of the arrests are administrative (see my reply on Hipster’s blog for more info).
About torture - he doesn’t know. He just presumes it happens, and since he presumes it, it must be true. I, on the other hand, know that there is no torture going on. See same location for more
