Madonna = Cartoons?

by Drima on August 15, 2006

Man this whole Madonna performing on a cross thingy is getting a little out of hand. Her stunt pissed off a lot of people. She’s becoming the “cartoon” of the Christian West. Soon we’ll start seeing Christians going out in violent riots and burning down buildings. Death to Madonna that stupid whore I tell ya!
Raaaight! You see that’s the difference between them and us (drunk English hooligans are an exception). Dear Muslims, we can protest and we should protest against what we don’t like BUT we should keep it civil. No to violent riots! Cartoons were NOT nice BUT the riots…? They went way out of hand okay!
On another note, I’ve always wondered why Muslims don’t get offended by things mocking Jesus or even Moses. I sure do feel offended sometimes you know.

Concerning Moses(ASS), I, personally, haven’t seen or heard any mockery directed towards him.

Concerning Jesus(ASS)(no offence to Christians & plz don’t get fiery on me), according to the Quran, the disciple who betrayed Jesus was the one crucified whereas the real Jesus has been saved & honoured & is up above with God and will come down on Judgement day.
Hence, technically, the wrong guy is being mocked.

But ,of course, ridicule of Prophets as a concept is blasphemous & distasteful!!!

It really hit home for most Americans when last season South Park did a two-parter involving Kyle’s attempt to prevent FOX from censoring a cartoon depiciton of The Prophet Mohammed on the show.

FOX censored the Prophet who, in the scene, handed a parody of Peter Griffin (of Family Guy reknown) a helmet. To make a point, Matt Stone and Trey Parker included at the end of the second episode, where, well… Jesus and the American flag are pretty much desecrated in some very not-creative ways.

One of the points Matt and Trey were trying to make, and have always made, is that it’s silly that they can be allowed to literally shit on Jesus and the flag, but when it comes to making a non-threatening depiction of Mohammed, the network gets scared because of the threat of violent retaliation.

It’ll all depend on where you’re coming from of course. For some people, the ability to speak your mind is of paramount importance.

Madonna was always a cartoon.

That was the secret of her success. People love cartoons.

I have always wondered why people get offended by cartoons about various religious figures. I mean, hey, religious figures are funny almost by definition - no wonder Life of Brian is so good!

Another excellent source of amusement is Hitler - I can’t see a picture of the man without chuckling. He’s just so ridiculous, it’s amazing (try sticking a fake Hitler mustache on yourself while you’re stoned and look in the mirror. If you’ll still be standing, I’m my own uncle).

I think both cases (Religious figures and Hitler) are so funny because people take them all too seriously. And the more serious something is, the funnier it is (also known as the Erisian Catch).

Have you recently heard anyone mocking Discordia? Probably not. And why not? Because She doesn’t take herself seriously (She’s a drunken bitch on many an occasion and She’s happy with it).

Laugh more - live longer.

See ? it doesn’t moch Moses as a religious figure, only plays with the parting of the waters. Where’s the mockery ?

Whether Jesus was crucufied or not doesn’t make a difference to his teachings. In fact, no joke, no cartoon would change my wiev on Jesus.

and “of course, ridicule of Prophets as a concept is blasphemous & distasteful!!!”
It is blasphemous because you (as a Muslim) believe so, it is distasteful because you (as a Muslim) are hurt by it.
No disrespect intended. I’m still deeply ashamed over the Danish cartoons, plz come around and share your thoughts.

Salaam

Raccoon,

“try sticking a fake Hitler mustache on yourself while you’re stoned and look in the mirror.”

LOOOOOL, I know exactly what you mean!

Halalhippie, there’s no need to be ashamed anymore bro. The cartoons are over with but I know what you mean. I as Muslim still feel ashamed over the barbaric savagery of what al-Qaeda did on 9/11. They’re not even Muslims in my opinion. They’re just a death cult.

Denmark gave us a lot. Hell, I love Denmark man and I wish I could visit one day. I’ve still got my LEGOs until now and I just had some Danish cheese for breakfast. Yaaaay

Cheers bro & one love!

Actually, I don’t think that many people were in fact that pissed off…. I think it was just Madge trying to get attention again…. controversy for controversy’s sake.

ALTHOUGH I suppose it was in hope of getting more attention for her fave charity… watch the video
http://streamos.maverick.com/qtime/maverick/rmf/livetotell320×24o.mov

but still… I don’t see the relation btw the crucifix and her cause.

Anyway… the reason the Catholic church are so pissed is because they have always had a little thing. Madge grew up as a Catholic anyway before she turned to Kabbalah.
I don’t think she was trying to mock anything, she was just looking for a headliner. and I think people recognise that and that is why nobody really cares. (apart from the millions more who are going to watch her concerts.. )
and I agree that people in the West act more maturely about stuff like this. There are always caricatures of politicians and what not in the papers. Can you imagine what Mahathir would do if someone caricatured him and put it in the papers?
It all boils down to… matured society.

Halalhippie, thankx for your comments and the link.

I agree that no joke/cartoon will ever change my view of any prophet too but I just feel it is not right regardless of the jokers’/cartoonists’ intentions.

“No disrespect intended”
None taken & as Drima said, I also apologize for some of the shameful actions of some Muslim extremists.

btw, I posted a long comment on your latest post but it seems that you haven’t approved it.Was the poem that bad?too long?If yes, you can delete the poem n leave the reply.
