Brangelina Couple in NAMIBIA??!

by Drima on May 24, 2006

The Brangelina couple are expecting their child in Namibia, Africa. I mean seriously out of all places Namibia?? Celebrities are just weird sometimes. But hey isn’t weed legal in Namibia?

Anyways on another note Brad Pitt’s ex, Jennifer Aniston is getting naked in her new movie “The Break Up”. Temperatures are already soaring high. Well well what can I say Jennifer…? Bad girl, bad girl… Very sinfull indeed… You’re going straight to hell.

Shhhh pst pst… Guess what? I can’t wait for the movie muahahaha =p

UPDATE: I found out why the Brangelina couple chose Namibia. Apparently they want to evade papparazis and the preying eyes of the media which still managed to get to them. They’re going to have their first child together in Namibia after the governor welcomed them to stay and assured them of great privacy and comfort. In return for the gesture the Brangelina couple will let him name their baby.

Darfur: Illusion of Peace?

by Drima on May 23, 2006

Here is a great article on Sudan Tribune which summarizes the recent post-Abuja Talks events. It strengthens my previous suspicions that the Khartoum government has somehow lost control over the Janjaweed. Disarming them is going to be difficult. However what’s much more difficult is making the rebels happy and satisfying their demands. This peace will not be possible without the support of the Darfur population which includes the rebels and Janjaweed. There are plans to buy off the 2 rebel leaders who haven’t signed with oil money. Let’s see if such tactics are going to work.

I am Drima & I have a dream

by Drima on May 23, 2006

I am Drima & I have a dream

I have a dream that one day this culture of hatred we’re stuck in will go away and turn into a culture of forgiveness and tolerance.

I have a dream that one day Muslim and Jewish boys and girls can run around and play happily together as brothers and sisters in the streets of Jerusalem .

I have a dream that people will wake up, stop believing outrageous conspiracy theories and see the truth.

I have a dream that democracy and a positive Islamic reform will sweep the nations of my people.

I am Drima & I have a dream

I have a dream that someday sons of dead suicide bombers and sons of victims of suicide bombings will sit together at the table of brotherhood to enjoy some fine Italian pizza.

I have a dream that someday in the near future Sudan will finally be able to enjoy political stability and prosperity and that I would live to see that day.

And last but not least, I have a dream that one day this world will rise up and live out the true meaning of humanity.

Aaaah *frustration *frustration… Damn is this lame or what?! = (

OIC & The Situation In Iraq

by Drima on May 22, 2006

As I was reading the newspaper today I was so happy and excited to see a lovely article about the recent World Economic Forum held in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt (you know I’m being sarcastic right?). The leaders who attended the summit ranted about many random issues which as usual included Iraq and Palestine. A suggestion was brough up in the meeting.

The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) should send troops under its leadership to help stabalize Iraq since “nobody” wants the US military there.
It’s a really positive thing seeing such constructive suggestions being brought up by the OIC… No seriously I’m not being sarcastic, it really is. However I have a serious problem with this whole suggestion thingy. You see, the same suggestion was brought up by the OIC three years ago and until now nothing has happened. A few days ago and three years later the suggestion was merely made again. A suggestion is only a suggestion until it is acted upon.
Aaaah come on… I mean hey, at least someone put the effort to make some sort of usefull suggestion right? Guess what though… that’s not the point I want to make on this post. My point is a different one and is not about “walking the talk”.
Can someone please tell me why does the OIC have time to make suggestions about sending Muslim troops under their leadership to Iraq but no time whatsoever to even mention Darfur? Why not suggest sending troops under their leadership to Darfur? WHY?!
That’s my point!

Darfur: Death & Fighting Continues

by Drima on May 22, 2006

60 have died recently in Darfur as the fighting continues. Not only that but the rebels who have signed the Abuja agreement are now accusing the Khartoum government of carrying out various attacks and not abiding. These developments are very disturbing but I hope the coming UN Security session in Khartoum will calm things down. The Abuja talks are now over. I personally considered them a successfull step. The coming UN meeting is now the second major one and I’m very impatient to see the results. Meanwhile however Sudan and China are happily signing business agreements together so we can at least expect the obvious postion that China might take during the session.

Welcome UN =) … Troops Stay Away >= (

by Drima on May 20, 2006

UN Security Council Ambassadors will head to Sudan next June for a meeting aimed at pressing for an end to Sudan’s three year Darfur crisis. The UN Security session in Khartoum intends to hold a special session on the implementation of the Darfur Peace Agreement and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in January 2005. This is an effort I congratulate the UN on and give it “a pat on the back” for.

On the other hand, UN efforts are still continuing to get an approval from the Sudanese government to allow their troops into Darfur. Now I seriously don’t understand how the hell the UN thinks in this case? Don’t they remember Bin Laden’s video? The UN shouldn’t waste their time and efforts trying to convince the Sudanese government to allow the troops in. They should spend their time and money by staying focused on supporting the AU troops and UN relief teams already present there. Iraq has proven America’s predictions wrong and the situation there is worsening. If the UN troops think they’ll be welcomed by the Darfuris with wide open arms, they’re wrong! I don’t think that will be the case. Initially things might be okay but eventually I believe the the situation could terribly worsen. The UN shouldn’t risk it and send their troops as I certainly don’t want my country to turn into another Iraq. A UN troops presence will end up attracting terrorists to the region and as a result people there will suffer more.
Darfur + UN + Al Qaeda = One big GIGANTIC Disaster !!!
UN troops please stay away!
Meanwhile as the UN still continues its efforts, the Arab “League” chills away. Why? Ooh I guess they have too many problems of their own to settle. Lovely ey?!

America You’re Making a Mistake You Might Regret

by Drima on May 20, 2006

As the war in Iraq and on terror wages, more questions arise in the Muslim world regarding the objectivity behind it (besides the “WMD’s” off course). One maybe inclined to attach it to freedom from oppression and its demise only to be replaced with democracy… democracy, a word much misunderstood in the Arab Muslim world rightly or due to misperceptions. Nevertheless, America relentlessly pursues this war in hopes of “liberating” the Middle East, as it’s mistakenly blinded by the idea that this is in its self-interests.

America shouldn’t want democracy in the Middle East and America shouldn’t enforce it. It would be foolish to push for it because the time is simply not right. The majority of Muslims don’t want democracy in its American style. Thankfully Americans understand that or don’t they? Egyptian Observer shares similar views in his blog. A system of governance is meant to change people. However no system will work efficiently without the participation of the major population.

Arab Muslims currently are still not in a neutral state of mind to welcome democracy to be self-enjoyed. If democracy in any way will be accepted at this time, then it would only be if it will inflict harm to the enemies and in this case they’re America and Israel. Democracy in Palestine has resulted in Hamas. Can’t America and Americans just see it? Why do they so vigorously still pursue this war? If true and fair elections were held all over the Arab Muslim world, the result will be a region united by one high priority… the destruction of Israel and America or at least an end to foreign Western meddling in Middle Eastern affairs.

Regardless of those Muslim liberals who support democracy, the majority want no democracy, no secularism and most certainly no Western ideology being forced onto them. If they want something then it’s two and two things only… the Khilafa system which is an Islamic system with similarities to democracy to return and for a great Muslim Ummah to rise once again. However Arab Muslims are without a doubt divided from a bird’s eye view. This divide amongst us can be attributed to simply one thing… education or the lack of it.

America can continue its war in the same way but the final outcome will be the exact opposite of what it has planned for. A change is therefore necessary for such an outcome to be avoided. If Americans are to win, the perception towards democracy in the Muslim world must be fixed. That is something Americans are not in control of but can help in. The wise saying “the pen is mightier than the sword”, still stands in this case.

Bombs and force will never bring the long term results America so badly wants. Education in the Arab Muslim world is the key which must be focused on and we Muslims must try our best to continue our efforts in pursuing that goal as this is in our interests and those of the West. This war to “liberate” will only truly liberate if it is accompanied by education. So far all America has been doing is focusing on the former which is “liberate”. I don’t blame the Americans for this, but I so desperately hope they start to realize the word “democracy” means something very different to the average Arab Muslim citizen who is too busy struggling daily to make ends meet. Philosophizing about this word is out of question. Therefore I stress again the need for education.

I also stress the continuation of peace efforts in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so that anti-Israeli sentiments in the region can at least start decreasing. If Americans continue this war with bombs, they might succeed temporarily but eventually the democracy they helped bring will backfire and result in Hamas-like governments ruling all over the Arab Muslim world.

America, you’re making a mistake… a mistake you might regret. Extremists will rule the region and unite against you. You will pay a high price for it and so will we the moderate Muslims. This is not in your interest and neither is it in ours because it will lead towards more violence in the region. Do you want that to happen?

PS: Fix Iraq as soon as possible!

I Wanna Cry =(

by Drima on May 19, 2006

Okay so I know this has nothing to do with politics but maaaaaaaaan I feel so depressed. Mischa Barton’s ‘O.C.’ character died in the last episode of season 3 =( Damn it why?? I mean why the hell did they have to spoil one of my favorite shows?? Why? The OC is gonna suck now without her. It was bad enough that Keith got killed on One Tree Hill. Arggh… Marissa is gonna be deeply missed *sob *sob. To those of you who watch the show and know what I’m talking about, we have to make a memorial for her. To those of you who don’t have a clue what the hell I’m talking about, I apologize. We will now be switching back to my political rants =P

BTW isn’t this just one more reason to hate terrorists? If America is gone there will be no OC show. Worse even, there probably wouldn’t be an OC left in real life. Huh oh no what about Oprah? What will happen to metal and hip hop music? Damn terrorists and OC producers. I hate them both.

by Drima on May 19, 2006

I was wondering whether blogging and the blogosphere will be affected if congress approves “Net Neutrality” and the internet becomes regulated.

I mean have no clue whatsoever but seriously what will happen if the internet does really become regulated? Can somebody please tell me if that’s good or bad =(

Turabi Calls for Uprising

by Drima on May 19, 2006

Yeah, Turabi is back in business with his usual attention seeking rants. He’s now officially calling for an uprising against Omar Al-Bashir’s government. I’m a little worried frankly because this man’s appeal is growing by the day even though he was labeled an apostate by Sudanese Muslim scholars recently. Nobody should underestimate him because believe me he’s up to something… something big. He was the one supporting the Darfur rebels and inciting them. Furthermore my dear American readers, he’s the one who protected Osama Bin Laden and harbored him in Sudan. Omar Al-Bashir was the one who kicked him out of the country. If you ask me to choose between the two, I would defintely choose Omar Al-Bashir because he is the lesser of two evils.

Turabi:

قال: أين شباب هذا البلد وقواعده.. ومن سيعالج قضيتكم؟

Translation: Where are the youth of this country and thier principles.. and who will solve your case?

Yeah sure… Our principles huh? Where are yours and where have they been all the past years when Sudan’s youth were dying in a war you helped start? Where were your principles when you helped start the Darfur conflict even though you were aware of the devastation it was going to cause? Hell you’re doing your best to use any means necessary to take over the country aren’t you?

“The regime will not fall “unless the people will replace it - not to the benefit of any regime or party, but to the benefit of all,” al-Turabi told reporters yesterday”

To the benefit of all or your benefit??! Benefit of all my foot!

Authorities Release Priest

by Drima on May 18, 2006

The Sudanese authorities have finally released the priest accused of “kidnapping” and the investigation has been dropped. Why? The woman who wanted to convert was found.

“A police official said the woman was back with her family and the investigation into her kidnapping had been dropped.”

Back with her family, really???! I sure hope so.

Sudanese Priest Arrested For “Kidnapping” Apostate

by Drima on May 16, 2006

Now it’s this kind of news that just makes me sick. A priest was arrested for “kidnapping” a Muslim apostate who went to see him on her own. The best part is that under Sudan’s new constitution which was created last year after the January 2005 peace deal between the south and north, freedom of religion is actually enshrined. Yeah sure enshrined my foot! It now seems that any church which accepts an apostate will be charged with “kidnapping” and the apostate as Sandmonkey said will probably be charged with being craaayzeeee.
If the Sudanese government can’t honour an agreement it signed in 2005, how can we expect it to even honour an agreement with the Darfur rebels? I’m waiting to see the response of Salva Kiir on this incident. Frankly, I don’t think he will give a damn. He’s got himself a nice and comfortable position now so why would he be bothered?
The only reason Sudan was paid so much attention to in the recent years was because of the Darfur crisis. It was and still is a huge tragic issue but people must not let it overshadow the real problem. Darfur is not a disease but only a symptom of the true and real sickening disease which is the Sudanese dictatorship. For almost the past 2 decades the Sudanese regime has used the most unethical, vile, un-Islamic and disgusting methods to stay in power. The sweetest part of all is that they carried out all their crimes in the name of Islam. That’s what makes me despise them so much. It’s not just terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda that brought Islam’s name down and dragged it through the mud but also regimes like the Sudanese one. It’s no surprise this woman converted to Christianity. Would you believe me if I told you that the Zakah money (a compulsory charity for all financially-able Muslims to provide the poor) is taken by the government? Hell even some of the Darfur aid is stolen and later gets resold on open markets by them (previous post). Many poor Muslims actually end up receiving charity from honest and wealthy Sudanese individuals and also from kind Christian churches.
I’m so damn freaking frustrated. I guess I’m stupid and naive to think all these problems will go away easily. I doubt that the coming elections will bring about dramatic positive changes. The economy and multinational contracts are already controled by the current regime so even if they do lose the elections, they will still maintain “behind the scenes” control over many things. Power brought them money… lots of dirty money and now this MONEY = POWER. By the way, they just issued another statement opposing UN troops coming into Darfur. It’s a decision I don’t blame them so much for since it really is a complex issue (previous post).
Arrghhh, I’ve got an exam tommorrow so I better get back to studying. You know what makes me MAD…? The fact that there are a considerable number supporting the government and thinking that the suffering and impoverishment the people go through in Sudan is generally part of a Zionist conspiracy (previous post). Yup once again can I please have a drum roll… dum dum dum dishhhhh… Blame the Americans and the damn Jooooooz!… Let’s burn us some American and Israeli flags!

Propaganda Against Islam

by Drima on May 14, 2006

I was reading the latest posts on Iraq The Model and I noticed this huge black banner on the side bar… “ISLAM: What The West Needs To Know”… so I clicked and it turned out to be some serious anti-Islam propaganda movie. So what the hell is this supposed to be??? A warning to the west to tell them of the “dangers” of Islam… ISLAM??! Very funny you know, I mean couldn’t those retards just use the word extremists or Islamists or Islamofacists or whatever the hell they wanted instead of ISLAM???!! The fact this movie is promoting Islam as an evil religion is in itself an insult to all Muslims because once you say that Islam is “dangerous” you’re automatically labeling all Muslims “dangerous” and that to me is some serious ignorant stereotyping. Talk about many Muslims in the Arab world being anti-Semitic… what’s this supposed to be? I was once engaged in a long discussion on Sandmonkey’s blog with some Jews. After many of those discussions and some emails I came to the realization that many of us Muslims hate Jews not because of how the majority of Jews are in reality but because of what we’re taught about them by our biased self-serving state run media. Jews & the west always complained about how they’re portrayed in Arab media… Well I guess this is pay back time isn’t it? Lovely ain’t it huh? 1.2 billion Muslims on the planet and you wanna tell me all of us are terrorists following an “evil” religion. Anyways… their opinion is their opinion so let them say whatever they want to say if they think they’re so damn right… I just hope that not many weak-minded individuals will fall for the idea that Islam itself is evil. The truth is that this evil is stemming from a very small and misguided fraction of the 1.2 billion Muslims on this planet today. To tell you the truth I pitty the people making this movie for they are seriously ignorant. People tryina bridge and on the other hands ones tryina repel us apart.

Hatred & ignorance will always be a never-ending quality of the human race

Al Turabi Is a Chameleon

by Drima on May 13, 2006

As time passes by this old man gets weirder by the day. A number of years ago during a visit to Canada, one Sudanese black belt Karate dude kick smacked Turabi on the head. I think that nasty hit is finally bringing the effect it was supposed to have. Turabi condemned the peace deal saying it wasn’t in the interest of the Darfuris. Sure! Since when did Turabi care about anything besides himself?

For those of you who don’t know much about Turabi, let me tell you this… He is the one person mostly responsible for all the problems Sudanese suffer from today. He’s extremely smart, charismatic, manipulative and most importantly wicked!

I think the best decision Omar El-Bashir ever made was to put him on house arrest and keep him under control. Believe me folks, if Turabi was still in the picture no peace would have been possible with the south or now with the west.

We have a very famous saying in Sudan… “politicians are chameleons”… A chameleon changes its color very efficiently and effectively everytime it is in a different environment… so yes you get the idea.
