Welcome UN =) … Troops Stay Away >= (

UN Security Council Ambassadors will head to Sudan next June for a meeting aimed at pressing for an end to Sudan’s three year Darfur crisis. The UN Security session in Khartoum intends to hold a special session on the implementation of the Darfur Peace Agreement and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in January 2005. This is an effort I congratulate the UN on and give it “a pat on the back” for.

On the other hand, UN efforts are still continuing to get an approval from the Sudanese government to allow their troops into Darfur. Now I seriously don’t understand how the hell the UN thinks in this case? Don’t they remember Bin Laden’s video? The UN shouldn’t waste their time and efforts trying to convince the Sudanese government to allow the troops in. They should spend their time and money by staying focused on supporting the AU troops and UN relief teams already present there. Iraq has proven America’s predictions wrong and the situation there is worsening. If the UN troops think they’ll be welcomed by the Darfuris with wide open arms, they’re wrong! I don’t think that will be the case. Initially things might be okay but eventually I believe the the situation could terribly worsen. The UN shouldn’t risk it and send their troops as I certainly don’t want my country to turn into another Iraq. A UN troops presence will end up attracting terrorists to the region and as a result people there will suffer more.
Darfur + UN + Al Qaeda = One big GIGANTIC Disaster !!!
UN troops please stay away!
Meanwhile as the UN still continues its efforts, the Arab “League” chills away. Why? Ooh I guess they have too many problems of their own to settle. Lovely ey?!

Do you really think these ‘peace talks’ will work? I mean, when have peace ever worked? I think taking America as a model to follow, people are embracing militarism now more than ever, I mean look at Iran and its nukes. Diplomacy has not prevailed ever since America decided to invade Iraq without UN consent.

And the African Union has not necessarily taken big strides towards suppressing the genocide either. I mean, I like the notion of Pan-Africanism in Africa, however, it is weak and it has not proven itself.

Don’t get me wrong,I think a US invasion of Sudan is a step in the wrong direction too. I don’t thnik the world will allow an Iraq in Sudan. The key here is innovation. I am sick of this ultimatum: either peace or war. And neither works.

I mean we can advocate peace all we want; but I think human beings have an inherently evil quality in them; especially when money and power is involved.

I don’t know; its a no-win situation. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see what the political world will unfold in the near future and in our generation.

I know pinktoes. It’s just messed up. However if a peace can happen between the north and south after a 21 year war which was bloodier than this conflict then there’s hope for the west too. I strongly believe that peace will prevail. The Sudanese government is under intense pressure to fix Darfur.

What I fear and predict is that when the rebels take up their positions in the government, they’ll end up being just as corrupted as the ones in power now.

“especially when money and power is involved.”

Believe me pinktoes this tragedy isn’t a genocide. It isn’t racial. It’s all about money and power. The rebels from the impoverished western part want more money and development pumped into their region and so they started an uprising after getting “inspire” by what the south was able to achieve.

“It’s definitely going to be interesting to see what the political world will unfold in the near future and in our generation.”

I don’t know but I’m expecting serious shifts in balances of power. I already think it’s starting to happen. In the past USSR was the balance and now slowly it’s becoming China. Just look at the Sudan and Iran sanctions and you’ll be able to tell. I don’t but it seems America is now facing huge challenges. It has overcome great ones in the past but can it overcome this one now?

“I strongly believe that peace will prevail.”

Let me rephrase that… Ehm Ehm

I strongly believe that a peace is possible. There can’t be absolute peace anytime soon but it will defintely get better… It all depends on the Sudanese government.

Who said anything about US troops?
I have no intention of supporting US troops in the Sudan even under the flag of the UN banner.
Let’s see how many people die while you talk about diplomacy.
“Yes to murderers and bloody tyrants, no to US troops!”
Makes absolutely no difference to me. I am free, safe and comfortable. You are the idiots who are dying while opposed to probably the only people who can help you.

“I am free, safe and comfortable”

    Good for you!

“You are the idiots who are dying while opposed to probably the only people who can help you.”

Very nice of you to leave such a lovely comment and remain anonymous at the same time. I’m sorry to say that you’re the idiot. UN relief teams are helpful but UN troops will worsen the situation.

I’m sorry. It wasn’t nice. It was just fustration.
Just watching the situation and the senseless deaths and not being able to do anything because we are viewed as the enemy.
It just makes me more then sad, it makes me mad.
    I won’t write anymore.
