So the Abuja talks have sort of ended before their offical deadline.Seems like the government doesn’t want to hand the 4th most powerful position to one of the rebels. I don’t know exactly why the talks failed at this point. There are too many contradicting reports. Meanwhile the US wants NATO to play a bigger role in Darfur. That’s a good thing since those poor people badly need help. Need I remind that no “Western looking” NATO or UN soldier set foot there. Al Qaeda is on stand by mode.

Why does Al Qaeda have any business there? It has no more right to interfere in Sudan’s internal affairs than does Microsoft. The UN, on the other hand, has a duty to keep the peace world wide, and this conflict has spilled over to another country.
“Why does Al Qaeda have any business there?”
“Jihad” my friend. That’s why. Check my previous posts.
Obviously Don missed Bin Laden’s newest rant about calling jihadists into the Sudan to fight the “crusading army,” that’s not even there.
Bin Laden is not retreating. He is just redeploying. (I’m laughing)
AU troops have been ineffectual, too few and are targets.
UN troops would not be up to facing Al Qaeda.
NATO troops can fight but it would make the humanitarian situation worse and in this situation, where’s the better? Exactly what side would we be on? Certainly not the government of the Sudan.

Darfur now = Disaster
Darfur + UN staying only temporarily = Improvements
Darfur + UN staying permenantly = Invasion???
Darfur + Successful Peace Talks + UN staying only temporarily = HUGE Improvements & Peace
Darfur + UN + Al Qaeda = One big ass GIGANTIC Disaster !!!
I really pitty the decision makers for it’s truly one hell of a tough decision
