Where Some of The Darfur Aid Ends Up

by Drima on April 16, 2006

A year ago during my holiday in Sudan, I went to an open market. To my surprise and disgust, I saw food products with stickers labeled “A Gift From The People of United Arab Emirates” being SOLD in the damn market. They were supposed to be freaking sent as freaking aid to Darfur. They were supposed to be given for free to the poor people who needed them the most and NOT sold. Use your God given imagination and figure out how they ended up being there… Yes a little harder… Think some more… Are you there yet?

Yup you got it, corruption baby! That’s right, corruption.

drima,
We know.
A good portion of all humanitarian aid winds up in the hands of the corrupt and that’s not only in the Sudan.
All we can hope for is that some of the aid actually gets to the people it is meant to help.
Just a sad reality of life.
I just hope they all realize, and this criticism is for all who share in the corruption, even the charity organizations and humanitarian organizations that get rich off this aid, there is a special hell for those that take food from starving children.
During relief efforts for the Tsunami, UN relief coordinators flew first class, stayed in four star hotels and disrupted relief efforts so they “could tour the affected area.” And one of their “BIG” ideas was the US military should be wearing the UN color of baby blue.
Bureaucracy and political posturing just gets me mad, especially when there are human lives at stake and we have example after example of these parasites living off the blood of victims.

your not alone my friend, if you remember the tsunami that took the world by surpise a couple of years ago. all the donations made to help the people in india sent from within and outside india -runnin in millions- hasnt still reached the victims. many of them still dont have homes , they live in shacks made by the generous govt made of aluminium corrogated sheets- these are people livin in very hot and sultry climates. to top it a good amout of these donations have been used to pay govt employees salaries.
All these ‘humanitarian causes’ eventually stream down into the pockets of people who have nothin to do with the first word- humanitarian.
these lousy asses are encashin on our sympathies.

Yeah I know about the Tsunami. I live in Malaysia. That’s why I never like donating through cahritable organizations. I can’t trust them. Whenever I go to Sudan now, I just like to go giving out free sandwiches to the starving kids on the streets or handing them a little money. You feel so much better that way specialy after witnessing the smiles on their faces first hand.

It’s sad realy. Those filthy people who do this have a hell waiting for them as t said

But hey neet and t, at least those cases that you’re talking about happened “under the table”, but this case I brought up is happening in broad day light right infront of everyone’s eyes. What’s worse is that people were actualy buying them at a “discount” price. IT JUST MAKES ME MAAADDD!
